Licking and nibbling paws

Kahlua keeps licking and nibbling at her back paw.  I checked it for cuts, burrs, matts or anything else and can't find anything.  But she keeps at it.  Any ideas?  Planning on taking her to the groomer this weekend and having him trip out the pads of her paws, just in case.

Is she just licking the one paw?  Maybe try just washing it really well, and if she keeps at it I would bandage it.  When Murph scraped the bottom of his front pads the Vet wrapped them up for a couple of days so he wouldn't keep licking them and they would be able to heel.  Taking her to the groomer to get them trimmed sounds like a good idea.

Ollie is doing this too! I think it is allergies. If Ollie keeps it up I am going to talk to the vet and see if he needs allergy meds or change his food.

It wouldn't be allergies if it's just one paw. Is there any reddish discoloring of the fur between the pads?

It's discolored, but not any different from her other paws.  More like wet looking.

Try giving her a benadryl- 1 mg lb every 12 hours for a day or two no more than 50 mg. This works with Zeus. Sometimes they are just itchy. Worth a try, may not help and can't hurt. May cause drowsiness.

If all four paws are discolored, are you sure she isn't licking the others, too? Something would be causing them all to be discolored.

Myla's are like this, just her 2 back ones alwayls licking and Chloe too. What does the discolor mean???

WE have a goldendoodle who sucks his paws.  I have never seen another dog do this.  He puts the whole paw inside his mouth and chews and sucks on it.  My son asks, "Is that a normal thing for a dog to do?"  When we check the paws there is nothing wrong with them, no burrs, cracks, etc.  But every once in a while, he is sucking his feet.  It can be a back foot or a front foot.  But the whole foot inside his mouth???  I could only figure it must be a comfort thing.  We once had a cat who nursed a hound dog, long after the hound was dry and the cat was an adult.  Whenever the hound layed down, the cat would start kneeding her belly and nursing and purring.  We figured that was also a comfort move.

Now that is interesting.  I've learned that there are alot of things that my goldendoodle will do that isn't normal for most breeds, but somehow she makes it look normal.  I checked her paws and can't find anything.  I must admit that the pads of her feet are pretty smooth, not sure why, but they are.  I'm going to have the hair between her pads trimmed, just in case this is causing her to itch.  Knowing her, she's probablyl doing it to irriate me.  HA!
