Lily has a tick head without body stuck in her neck!

I felt a bump or what I thought was a wart then I looked at it and it had legs.  I made DH suit up in his gloves and I put alcohol on the tick.  DH used a tweezers to pull it out but did not get low enough since there was no head when he looked at it.  The head is still stuck in her skin.  I feel like I could puke.

I took her to the vet and the head is out.  Thank all of you for the info you gave me.
