Oh boy...you had the same kind of day, I have had. I hope Lincoln gets an allowance and can help pay for the new glasses :)

I just wonder when and if he'll ever stop chewing on things he's not suppose to have.  I can't remember when Scottie stopped, but I know he got quite a few pairs of shoes before he stopped.  Lincoln is 2 and 1 month old now,  He knows the leave it command really well, but if you aren't there to say leave it...I went upstairs to put my pyjamas on and I heard something not quite right, and sure enough...He did look somewhat guilty this time though...I think :D  They were expensive.  I found a website that sell glasses with bifocals (which wear) pretty reasonable.  They aren't designer frames, but they'll do the trick.  I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars on glasses if he's going to eat them.  I have to be more careful, but when you wear them all the time it's hard to remember to put them away...sigh...

I think it must vary from dog to dog as to when they can start resisting temptation.  Tara is one year and 3 months old now and she has not messed with any of our stuff for a long time. At least a year.  But she is very passive and sensitive and really wants to please us and do what we ask of her. We can leave anything laying around and she will ignore it. But she is not a real heavy chewer either. That might make a difference too.

I can't figure out what the appeal is with GLASSES though! I have a friend with doodle that is a glasses chewer too. It seems weird. I understand your frustration. I can't read a thing without my glasses!

Lucky you Ricki.  He steals paper towel, kleenex, eye glasses, shoes, and we tell him no or leave it over and over again.  He has alot of things to choose of his own to play with, but our stuff just seems soooo much more exciting to him.  I wonder if he doesn't do it for attention ;D  We give him plenty of that too...

We're home all day with Tara too so maybe that makes a difference. Lots of opportunities for reinforcement!!

Oh, I feel your pain.  I have one of those chewers too.  And he seems to be progressing.  He loves to unwind the toilet paper to get the cardboard frame in the middle.  Then he takes that to a special place and chews it into pieces and eats it.  He bring snails inside to watch then crawl on the carpet and then eats them.  He loves underwear and biking clothes, and an occasional slipper left out.  We try to keep everything put away and doors closed, but they just aren't all the time.  He always loved bathroom  trash baskets (they have such neat things in them) and we had to put them on top of the toilet.  Now he crawls up onto the toilet so he can get into the baskets.  Husband's shop - always a great place to find chewable treasures and no problem standing up on the counter to snag anything left out.  I usually read at night before I go to sleep and my glasses are usually on the book, but I have started to hide them also.  Groucho Too did eat my  glasses when he was a pup.  They were new bifocals with designer frames and cost $350, but he seldom eats anything now, so I guess they do outgrow it.
I think maybe I have to sabotage with Bitter Apple.  I keep forgetting I could use that.  Aren't they sneaky? LOL...
I hope that Lincoln wasn't damaged along with the glasses!!  Just look into that little doodle face and you will feel better!!

I had to walk away for a while :D  I know it's not his fault...it's my fault for leaving them there...

oiiii....my Rosie chewed up both of my mouth guards. thankfully I had backups, my dentist wanted to charge me $600 for a new set. now i am super super careful with them.
I know I'm going to have to be more careful.
So sorry Diane, but you are not alone.   Cooper eats glasses too.  My hubby and I both wear reading glasses and Cooper snatches them any chance he gets to have a quick snack.  He knows better, but the glasses are just too tempting for him.   He just turned 16 months now and I am wondering the same as you.  When does it end?   He is getting better about leaving other things alone, so maybe the glasses will be one of the last things.  We can only hope!
