Listing for Labradoodle on Craigslist Denver

My friend just send me this listing - I hate seeing puppies sold this way.  Anyway, if you know anyone in the Denver area looking for a beautiful puppy, here he is:

Has anyone heard of RAIN ?  The girl at Starbucks told me her mom bought a black lab from RAIN…it was portrayed as a 'donation'…then, when the pup appeared, the price was $650…

no, not a rescue group, but it sounds like a puppy mill scam…from what the girl told me, the dogs come from the South, are flown to 'foster families' around the country, who then present the dogs to the interested buyers…& surprise them with the price...we are in WA

Well, a lot of rescue groups bring dogs up from the South and place them in foster homes until they are adopted. That part doesn't sound at all like a puppy mill. 

But a legitimate rescue posts their adoption fees up front, no surprises.

It was a young puppy, 7-8 weeks, & the buyer was told upfront the cost was a 'donation'…she assumed the amount was up to her…We are in WA state.

Whether they are legitimate or not, I don't know. I don't see a 501c3 number. But they are not a puppy mill. The adult dogs adoption fees are posted in their Petfinder listings, the puppies are not.

But most people ask before going to see the dog, lol.

There are a lot of rescue groups called "R.A.I.N" 

It usually stands for something like Rescued Animals In Need or Recycled Animals In Need. But I'd have to know the location or more info to tell if it's legitimate or not.

So sad.  I just responded to a craigs aid list that my friend sent me,  I suggested if she loved her 1 year old dog that she be responsible to give him to DRC.  I gave her all the reasons that were bad for craigslist. :(  She has not responded to my email.  what really makes me sad,,,,, this dogger is about 10 miles away from me.  I truly am not able to foster right now...... fingers crossed,

Laurie, that was a good idea. I hope DRC can intervene and get this gentle giant into the kind of home he deserves. Geesh,  if what she says is true, this pup is a saint to have done nothing more than paw at the toddler.  Plus I think he's adorable. Potential therapy dog anyone? Breaks my heart to think of who might take him off CL. Oh and change the name :)
