Wow!  I met someone here at DK who definitely thinks like me.  She does beautiful pet pictures by painting them with a Wacom tablet.  And she is so talented.  Found out on FB that she is offering high resolution digital files so you can have them printed anywhere.  We did the same thing with our remodeling last summer.  We took high res photos of our favorite places and printed them on canvas.  (We have a canvas printer.)  So, check her out.  She is on the Buy-Sell-Trade group, but even I had problems getting to her.  Her website is:   www.bellcreativegallery.com     Many of you have great photos that she could render into paintings.  I am learning to do the same thing in my Intro. to Digital Arts class but her talent is way beyond mine (at least at this point).  I will get there - one of my goals this year.

Painter12 installed and got my tabled today as well. I have no idea how to start so I ordered a couple of book as well. They should be here tomorrow and then I can start exploring. I can definitely understand now why the tables is a must. The mouse just does not work well with this type of a program.

How exciting! Are you on a Mac by any chance? And if so, what version is your OS? (Mine is Snow Leopard.)

No, I'm on a PC. Windows 7.

We will be getting a new computer also and it will probably be a HP Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4 with Windows 8.

Oh boy!

Okay, I skipped all the basics (they were too difficult) and went straight to the doggie portrait tutorial. Here is my first attempt. My DH says he sees no difference. I just want to kick that guy!

Here is the original picture:

And here is the painting "wannabe":

I have no idea how I managed to "defluff his ears. I thought I saved the project so that I can get back to it, but I did not do it correctly. My brush strokes are pretty lame and I'm missing all the details that should be in the painting. But it's fun.

I love it!  I downloaded the trial version this afternoon and I've been playing.  It is kind of fun.

It IS fun! Especially for those who can paint. I must be getting old since I've recently noticed that all this new technology takes me forever to learn. And even if I learn the basics, that's where I get stuck.

Awww, this came out beautiful!!!

BTW, which "doggie portrait tutorial" are you referring to? Is it online?

Yes, there are several tutorials on the Corel Painter 12 website:

I would rather attend a class somewhere, but was not able to find anything.
