Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

(I am hoping I am putting this in the right spot...

I am looking to find a reputable breeder, reasonably priced, and close to Cary, NC to purchase a Goldendoodle for my family (well, my husband is apart of this also, but I'm doing all of the work :).  I have searched so many breeders, contacted numerous ones, and the closest I have found (is 4 hours away and out of state).  We have a 1 year old son, so I wanted to avoid driving TOO far.  We are hoping to have one sometime after September.  If anyone can recommend a breeder (or few), I would greatly appreciate it.  I CANNOT wait to have our own Goldendoodle.  I have done a lot of research on them, and I believe they are the perfect fit for our family.  Thank you in advance! :)

Please message me with any suggestions.

Hi, hope you can find your dream puppy. Here is some info to get you started:

You might also want to join the Carolina group and post your question there:

Thank you.  I have looked on the website you linked and looked at all of those breeders and contacted them.  Many are too far away, or I don't like some of their policies.  I have been doing a lot of research for quite a few months now, just preparing and making sure we have one lined up for when we are ready and can put in a deposit within the next few months.  I will also post my question in the Carolina group though.  Thank you.

Good job. I would say just keep looking, even out of state. I don't like when puppies are being shipped, especially in summer, but if there is no good breeder close by, shipping might be the only solution. I know others have done it.

We want to avoid shipping just because I would love to be able to visit if at all possible, but definitely be able to pick up our pup.  I just feel it is better for the puppy, and also for my family! :)  I have found a couple out of state I like, but was hoping to find something closer to home for travel purposes.

I totally understand. Hopefully some other people will be able to chime in. Good luck to you. This is an exciting time for your family. :-)

Shannon, I totally agree with your wanting to visit. It sounds like you are some one who really does her homework.  May I suggest that you take an overnight visit over the next few months to visit those breeders who meet your standards. Perhaps taking the drive over two days would not be so tiring for your little one.  I know when we got our doodle, we drove 5 hours one way to pick him out and then to pick him up. However, it was just my DH and I.

I found good ones 4 hours away, which I guess isn't too far (especially if we leave during nap time and lunch time :)  Again, I was just hoping for something closer.  Thanks so far for all of the help! :) And yes, I have done my homework-my sister (she's 19), and my parents think I'm crazy.  My husband seems to believe I have contacted every breeder that is out there on the east coast :)

If you are doodle-obsessed, this is the site for you to talk. That is pretty much how we all are here.

Shannon, the Doodle Kisses Guidelines prohibit anyone from recomemdning a breeder here in the public forum. People can send you a private message or leave a comment on your page. There is an Owner recommended Breeders group here that you can check, and also a Goldendoodles for Sale Group, where breeders who meet the requirements on health testing, etc. can list available dogs.

Please read the link that jarka provided on What to Look for in a Breeder, and sue that as a guide for any breeder you are considering. It's the best guiseline you could find.

Good luck in your search.

Thank you.  I did put at the end of my post to send me a message for suggestions (so it is not made public).  I will check into the other groups you have mentioned.  I have found numerous "what to look for in a breeder" pages, and read many articles...I have done my homework on this, which is why I have not settled on one just yet.  Just looking for some personal recommendations because that is one thing I have not been able to find, only knowing 1 person with a Goldendoodle, and their breeder no longer breeds.

Thank you though.

Here are the links to the groups I mentioned above:

You might also want to read through a recent discussion from another new member who is looking for a GD in another part of the country. A lot of times, when people research these dogs on-line, they find a lot of hype and misinformation, which leads people to have unrealistic expectations; here, you can get factual info on what to eexpect from experienced owners who love their dogs but know they are not "the perfect family dog" that the internet can lead you to believe they are, lol

Shannon- We are driving 4 hours to pick up our puppy next month, so you aren't the only one!  Good luck with finding a breeder...
