I tried posting this in the grooming group, but no responses :(

We've had a bit of a change-over with Lola's food lately, and with that, she's having a bit of some "soft poops", and for whatever reason, her current toothpaste (Triple Pet) seems to be making it MUCH worse. What do you all use/recommend????? TIA!

I would just brush her teeth with the brush dry or use a little water to see if it's actually the toothpaste that's causing the problem. Good luck.
I've done that off and on for a couple of weeks now, so I know it's the toothpaste for sure. I didn't think a little dollop of toothpaste could cause such problems!

I use Petzlife for Jack, it is expensive, someone recommended it on here and it works well. Just today I purchased something to add to the water called Tropiclean, I got it from the Health food store for dogs, I am hoping that will also help prevent plaque build up like it says it does,

I don't know a lot about it, I did a search on here and nothing came up.

He has been fine with the Petzlife though, no problems.

Thanks Jennifer...I'll look into that one! Let us know how the water additive works out...that would be so great if it did work!
He could be just getting soft poop from the stress of having his teeth brushed too, maybe.
I've been brushing her teeth for almost 4 years now, and the soft poops are a new thing, and she's great with having her teeth cleaned...so I don't think it's the stress...I hope not at least lol
Oaklee, Kiss and Ellie all use Virbac's chicken flavored enzymatic toothpaste with no ill effects. Oak is on Royal Canine high energy GI food and I have to be careful with things like toothpaste. No prob's with this one. Very cheap at amazon.com. Good luck:)
Thanks Susie!!! How's the food? We're looking to change after this bag of Orijen too (to something with a little less protein)
just out of curiosity how come you are looking for less protein? I always like to learn what other people think.
From what I've read, for some dogs, a really high protein diet can cause loose stools. I may be wrong, but that's what I've gathered.
My dogs had loose stools when I changed them over to Orijen but I think it was from the changing, not the Orijen.  They have been on it for over a year for one of them and two years for the other.  No loose stools.  I use Virbac's flavored tooth paste too.

I am a big fan of Orijen, I do sometimes mix other kibble in it as well just because he is so fussy and my shop gives me free samples, sometimes I put a few pieces of TOTW kibble or Fromm or Great Life, or Go, or anything that is really high quality.

Jack does not seem to get to much of a GI upset as long as I give him high quality food, I just can rotate like that but his base is always Orijen... each dog needs to find what works for them.

The key with my picky pants, is variety, different toppers, different treats, different textures, flavors etc..
