Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are looking at adding a 2nd doodle to our family, however we are looking to adopt/rescue a young adult.  Does any one know of any doodle rescue groups in Canada.  I am finding DRC in the US but not having any luck in Canada,

DRC will adopt to homes in Canada, but will not transport.

The only doodle specific rescues I know of are DRC and IDOG, and both are based in the U.S.

There are often doodles available through all breed rescues and shelters, as well as the parent breed rescues: Lab, Golden or Poodle Rescues. Check the Petfinder listings in your area daily. Using "Standard Poodle" for the breed is easiest.

Recently there were many on petfinder.com in your area.  For weeks actually. Now, most are not there.  Hopefully a good sign.

Here is one way to look.

  • Petfinder.com
  • type in zip code and poodle.
  • try again using zip code and standard poodle

You can also use other breeds on your search.  For example, recently an Old English Sheepdog/Poodle Mix was in your area.   Many shelters have no idea what type of breed and guess.

Get creative.

Thank you.  We have been looking on all the rescue sites etc.  but timing is everything as doodles go very quickly. Joanne,  yes there have been several in our area recently, however some  had a change of heart and  decided to keep their doodles or they were gone before we seen listings.  We will keep looking but thought we would put it out their in case anyone knew of a family wanting to re-home.
