Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi, I'm looking to purchase a quality orthopedic bed for Paz, who is being such a trooper throughout his chemotherapy. Paz's current bed has bolsters, which he loves, however the "mattress" is beginning to wear. I'd like to purchase Paz a bed with a memory foam mattress and bolsters; I've looked at several Orvis beds which appear to be wonderful, so I'm just wondering if anyone has recommendations regarding quality dog beds, or has ordered a bed from Orvis? Before I incur the expense, I was hoping to get some recommendations or feedback.

We just had a good discussion here about the Orvis Deep Dish memory foam bed, lots of feedback and photos!

Jack has this bed and he loves it. Some of the Food Group members bought it for him after he was diagnosed with a herniated lumbar disc. That was three and a half years ago, he still loves the bed and it's still in perfect condition. I highly recommend it.
As you will see in the discussion, ordering the right size can be a bit tricky. Don't go by weight. The bed is almost as deep as it is long. I measured Jack's current bed at the time and he needed the XL size, as he is one who loves to stretch out rather than curl up.
Thanks so much. That's the bed I was looking at. Quick question. Did you get Jack the L or XL? Paz is about 75 lbs and he loves to stretch out too.
The XL. He really needed it for length, and he's about the same weight as Paz.
Thanks Karen for the great advice. Paz loves to stretch his entire body out when he sleeps, so the length is critical. I will definitely order the XL with the memory foam mattress. I will take a picture when it arrives and he's sleeping in it; until his hair grows back, Paz will look like a goatdoodle sleeping in a dog bed! By the way, Jackdoodle is absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks, Charlotte.
As mentioned in the discussion I linked, I keep a small comforter over the bed for easier washing. The cover on the Orvis bed is washable, but it's so much easier to just throw a blanket or quilt into the wash rather than have to take the cover off and put it back on frequently. The bed is very heavy, which I like.
That's so funny because I keep a small blanket on Paz's current bed because he likes to put his head on it....I think doodles truly love their comfort, whether it be our beds or their beds.
I agree Karen. I went to this method too because I had difficulty get the bolster in and out of Beau's bed!
Oops, don't know how I posted that twice!
We have the same bed for Beau & Sully. We got the medium which works for Sully, he likes to curl up. But, Beau needs the large or XL as he likes to stretch. I'm going to get another for him and keep the smaller one for Callie. Karen, thanks for posting the pic as I was having trouble gauging the XL. This helps! It is a great bed and they both loved it from the first night. Not cheap but worth the money.
Thank you so much for your input. I'm going to order the bed right now in an XL.
