I was browsing in my latest issue of Yoga Journal and came across an ad for Lotus pet food, made in southern California. I'm curious, has anyone heard of this?

Yes, they've been around for quite a while. Their kibble is grain heavy and low in protein, which is one reason they're not on the Food Groups' recommended brands list. I haven't looked at their canned or raw foods in much detail. Not a bad brand, but you can do a lot better.
This can be misleading being featured in a yoga magazine. Kinda like "well this must be healthy." Thanks again Karen for all your wisdom!
Advertising is usually misleading, lol. Lotus was one of the first "natural" foods out there, but a lot of other companies have passed them by in terms of formulas and nutrient profiles.
I'm so thankful that Gracie thrives on Orijen. As an empty nester, I'm grateful for a quality food! I have been educated thanks to this site, especially for Karen's input.
They have a grain free Duck formula Karen. Is this false?

we get samples of this all the time when we go to the food store...my dogs really like it. I use them as training treats.
i thought they had a grain free chicken too but i cant find it on the website
Missed that when I looked at the kibble formulas. Even so, 27% is a very low protein percentage for a grain-free food. It's about 55% carbs. Again, not a bad food, but you can do better, especially at this price.
ICIC! very interesting considering that they are on the pricey side. thanks Karen!
Yes, the prices are higher than Orijen and you have to feed more of this, because Orijen Adult formula contains only 29% carbs. JD would need 4 cups a day of this food, versus 2.5 cups of Orijen.
