Zoe went for her check up yesterday and got her shots. She got a clean bill of health. Last night she was sleeping on her big pillow and woke up and started to walk towards me. She stopped to yawn and her lower jaw started doing the chattery thing like when your really cold. At first I thought, huh maybe she is cold, since I keep the house pretty cool, but she stopped. Then when she yawned again, same thing happened. She seems absolutely fine other wise. Eating, potty, play, sleep you name it. This morn she did it again. We were on our way out the door at 5am for 1st potty and she was waiting to get hooked up so we could go out the door. It just lasts 5 10 seconds........Anybody have a clue? I've read different reports to check in her mouth for stuff stuck in her gums, jaw and teeth, insect bites, etc to sign of seizure.
Jackdoodle gets these a lot. They are actually a kind of seizure, called a "focal seizure". We haven't been able to find out what causes it. They come in clusters...he may not have any for months and then he'll have several over a period of days.
We thought maybe they were related to his allergies & immune system problems, but there doesn't seem to be any connection. We also ran a full thyroid panel, and that came back negative, too. So we just live with it, the vets don't seem to think it's anything to worry about.
I think Zoe is a puppy. If so the tremor may just may be an immature neurological system . Babies are born with refexes that adults don't have and that disappear with increasing neurological maturity. I think these tremors could be another symptom of this. It seems like a good idea to ask your vet about these tremors.
Thank you! That confirms what my husband said...now I have to tell him he's correct. Zoe's vet called me back yesterday afternoon. She said that it didn't sound like a focal seizure and could just be her outlet for stress from getting her shots or just a stage.(She got them the day she got the shots) The vet did say thought that if they should happen to continue, to please call right away and maid sure I ha her cellphone number. So I am tending to go with both you and my husbands answer, as the other day she had a leg doing it while she was in sit for about 5 seconds. thats when he told me about it. Scott and his parent had reaised and showed dogs when Scott was wayyyyyy younger so I guess he knows a little bit of something :}. Thank you so much for writing that...now I can rest easier.
