Wed. night Lucy started to limp. It's her left front leg. She's still limping. There's nothing apparently wrong with it. Nothing in her paw. Nothing in particular seems to hurt when I push or pull on it. She can't get comfortable when laying down either. She does forget sometimes when she's outside playing with Fergie but otherwise she won't put any weight on it. I figure she pulled a mussel or something. I think it it's still bothering her Monday I'll take her to the vet but I don't know what he could do either. What do you all think?

I have had problems with the CCL (think ACL in people) with Sophie. She and Lucy tend to play really rough when they are allowed outside in the yard to run. They run at full speed chasing each other and then one runs into the other and they just roll across the yard. Twice now Sophie has come out of this limping or not putting any weight on her leg. Both times I have taken her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a partially torn CCL in her knee. Both times the treatment was rest, no running, no jumping. I used my puppy play pen to keep them separated so she wouldn't jump in the house. The first time it took probably 6 weeks to get her back to completely normal. After she had been lying around she would get up really stif and limping and as she moved around it was like she worked it out a little. The last time she stopped limping fairly soon, but I still kept her confined for a month and have just this week started letting them back outside together to run and play but I try to control the roughness. The tough part is if she ever tears it completely it is a big deal so I'm trying to prevent that. Hope Lucy is feel better real soon.
My neighbor's dog often gets a pulled muscle in his leg after he has been running or playing hard, especially if it's very wet outside. They just keep him from running for awhile until it has a chance to heal. I think it's smart to have the vet look at it Monday if it's still bothering her, though. I hope it's nothing to be concerned about & she feels better soon.
Perhaps subluxated patella???
Awww poor Lucy.I hope she feels better soon. I dont think pulling a mussel will hurt her :o)
Unless she pulled the muscle while pulling on the mussel.
*evil snicker*.
Do get it checked out if she is limping at all on Monday, It can be nothing but it could be something serious requiring rest or even surgery.
Lucy had a bad night last night. Couldn't settle - panting a lot. I took her this morning to vet. He thought it's in her shoulder - took x-ray. Everything looked good so he gave her a shot for pain and some meds for 1 wk. Really thinks its just a pulled muscle. I do feel better that he took the x-ray and everythng looked good. I guess it's worth the money just for the pc. of mind.
I so agree! I hope she'll be better quickly!
I hope she's on the road to recovery now.
