Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

The last few months haven't been without their challenges. There was the peeing and the pooping, playing keep away in the yard (and not the fun kind.) The dog who left the room if I looked at her and panicked if I came near her. There was the great window escape of 2018.

Then we started training. There was that first time that I forced her into a sit and we both ended up on the floor, because begging, pleading, treats, lures, and clickers did not work at that point. And it all changed. Now my beautiful, sweet girl has the best eye contact and attention. She mugs strangers for pets on the head and treats.

Tonight was the first of all the next best things to come. Maggie earned her CGC! And she did it like a boss. She sat, she downed, she came on command. She sat for a stranger to pet her and walked by strange dogs. And she did it with a confidence that I wasn't sure she would ever have.

And now she needs a name! I'm applying for her AKC Canine Partners number so she can start getting all the titles. She needs a fancy stuck-up show dog name because she's just as special as all the other dogs. So if you want to throw them out there I'm entertaining all options.

I'm really just so excited for her. She's figuring this life out. There's so much good stuff to look forward to.

Think song titles and song lyrics- go through your album collection. And your favorite poems. That's where I get my best inspiration. You don't know her parents' names (I don't think) so there's no help there, but on the plus side, very few goldendoodles are registered in the AKC database, so you probably don't have to worry about finding something so unique that nobody else has used it yet.

And congratulations, BTW. I hope this is just the first of many many titles for Maggie. :)

That is a great idea! I'm playing the name game. I do know her parents names, but I'm not acknowledging the puppy mill that she came from so that doesn't really matter. I do have a good collection of music though!

We signed up for beginner novice next, but I was talking to the poodle guy after class and now I wish we had signed up for the trick class. She could get another title, and I think it will be a fun class. Oh well, next time!

Can you do both?

After you said that I looked at the schedule and I actually could. The Trick Class is at 5:45 and then the beginner novice class starts at 7. We could just make an evening of it. It might be fun.

Except that she'd be very tired for the Novice class. I think that's a lot for one night.

You could be right. Last night was the exception. We were second to test and then we sat there waiting for an hour. Maggie really wanted it to be her turn again. But we can't drive out there two days a week. It's just too far.

Do the Novice class first then, and she will be all that much better at trick class. :)

I think that would exhaust you too!
Maggie looks proud of the ribbon which she should be! I'm sure the perfect name will pop up out of those ideas.

She really is proud. She has the best smile.

Do you think her formal name could include Magic (hence Maggie) since she obviously is a magical dog.  Congratulations!  You give so many of us with rescues confidence that with very hard work, our doggies can achieve magical things also.

Believe In Magic (song: Do you believe in Magic?)

Magical Rescue

Stacy's Magic

Magic Pizza - hahahaha

I think Believe In Magic is an excellent registered name. Better than excellent, in fact.
