Maine vacation with the doods!

I am excited about a weeklong vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine near Acadia National Park during the second week of September. I found a small house (they call it a cabin but it has a full kitchen and 2 bedrooms) that we can actually afford and...it is PET-friendly!! My husband isn't sure we can call it a vacation if we bring the dogs--but it is MY dream come true! I hope to bring two of the three--Lyric might be bred again by then, so she might be staying behind with the breeder--but Rio and Mattie are going for sure! There are tons of hiking trails, ponds for kayaking (Mattie loves to be in the kayak, but we haven't taken Rio out yet) and yummy seafood!

My husband turns 60 on Sunday, so I am giving him this trip as a birthday present--a little belated, but September is a great time of year up there--can't wait!

We rent a home in Long Beach Island, NJ each year and bring the girls with us. Unfortunately, they are not allowed on the beach in the summer but there is a dog park very close that we take them too and manage to get them wet in the bay.

Oh, I'm so jealous, Ginny - that's one of my favorite places in the world!  (I used to own a cottage in Boothbay Harbor)  We've only taken one dood on vacation so far and she absolutely loved it.  Maine is perfect for doods!

Sounds like everyone agrees that this will be fun. My DH isn't quite sure how we will actually relax with the dogs along, but I am sure we will find a way!

When we stay in Maine I usually send Allie to daycare 2 of our vacation days so that we can relax.  It's great because she is at daycare all day and then comes home and sleeps for the rest of the night anyway.  Maybe there is a daycare in Bar Harbor?

Bar Harbor is one of my all time favorite places.  I'm so jealous you are going with your doodles!!  My DH and I have been twice for vacation (before Hudson) and they were the best vacations.  There is so much to do there and it is beautiful.  I've never been in September but I bet it is going to be gorgeous that time of year.  The hiking in acadia is great...love all the fresh blueberries along the way.  My favorite day was when we went biking along the carriage roads in Acadia.  We must have biked over 30 miles that day!  We were having so much fun we couldn't stop LOL  We did go to the Jordan Pond House for lunch on our biking day.  You MUST go there.  It is beautiful!  They suggest you make reservations, but we didn't and they gave us the best seat in the house! You'll see there are plenty of dogs in this picture so you can bring them with you!  I can't wait to go back and bring Hudson.  Let us know how you like it!
