Meet our newest doodle!

Our adoption has been approved and we got our new doodle last night!!

 

A few weeks ago, a message went out on DoodleKisses about 2 black labradoodle pups in Toronto. This is one of them! Meet Diesel, our new Labradoodle!

 

 

He is about 5-6 months old and he's HUGE! He's probably about 35 lbs already, and he's nearly as tall as Sunny. Definitely got the poodle legs! He and Sunny are getting along great so far. Not best buddies by any means, but Diesel follows Sunny everywhere and seems to look to him for leadership. In fact, he's already copying certain things that Sunny does! Aside from not having any toys to play with or bones to chew (because Sunny keeps stealing them from him), he seems to be adjusting really well. Sunny seems to want to play and wrestle with him, but he won't stop barking at him when they're playing. This is a first -- Sunny has always been vocal with the playing, but it's always been mostly growling/groaning, never barking. We'll have to work on that.

 

As predicted, Diesel was very anxious when he got in the car to come home last night. Very heavy panting, drooling, heart beating a mile a minute. I sat in the back with him to praise him and give him some treats as we drove along. But, after about 30 mins of this, he threw up his whole breakfast and lunch (hadn't had dinner yet). As soon as that happened, his anxiety subsided though and he curled up and went right to sleep for the rest of the trip.

 

He's been absolutely great so far! Has been peeing and pooping outside, slept on the floor in our room with Sunny last night, and has been getting lots of play time. He is so unbelievably calm! Not just for a part-lab dog, but for a 5 month old puppy. Very very laid back, and extremely docile. And doesn't shed at all, contrary to Sunny.

 

We love him already and can't wait to get to know this little guy and watch him grow! Sunny is 65 lbs and quite tall, and as you can see from this pic from last weekend, when we went to meet Diesel and took the two of them on a little walk.....Diesel is almost as tall as Sunny, and check out those enormous paws! We think he's going to be a very big dog - probably between 80-100 lbs if I had to guess. Pardon the quality of the pic, as it was taken from a cell phone. So excited!!

Thanks everyone for the overwhelming response! It's so nice to have a community to share our excitement with. Most of our friends and family think we're totally crazy for adding a second dog to the mix!

 

Diesel was already named prior to getting adopted by us, but we really liked the name and decided to keep it. We think it's very fitting! Looking forward to sharing more pics in the future.

Oh my gosh.  Diesel is gorgeous.  What a pure black.  How wonderful that you rescued him.  I'm sure they are just determining pack order, don't you think?  My goodness, you are brave.  That is two huge armloads of doodles!!

He looks just like my Oliver !!!  Oliver was a big baby too with very large paws, he will be 1 yr. old on the 30th of this month and weighs 73 lbs.  My vet said he is not done growing yet  - YIKES !!!  good luck with your newest doodle :)   Having two is the best!!!
