Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I'm in Nashville, TN and I keep an eye on the possible doodles in area non-rescue shelters.  I have family in Michigan so I keep an eye on that area also.  Here is a labradoodle listed in the Gladwin, Mich shelter.  The fee is $20 + spay/neuter cost.  This boy is young and looks like a treasure.

Have any of the rescues tagged him?  If not, surely a Michigander needs another, even temporary, doodle.  I grew up in Mich & I know we love our dogs :-)

Another Mr. No Name! He is tagged for rescue. We can't pick him up until Tuesday - 5 day hold in case his owners come to look for him but I really doubt they will. The shelter told me he is in dire need of a grooming!!

As you all can see, there are so many in kill shelters! Foster homes are needed!! If anyone is interested in fostering - even for a few days until we can get a doodle transported to another foster home, please email me at adriannedrc@aol.com
THANK YOU all for checking on Mr. No Name.
Any ideas for a name for this boy? Something special for a special boy!
You know, he's in Gladwin, Michigan, he'll be "Glad" to be adopted, it's a "win"/"win" for him, we could just call him "Gladwin" :-)
This is the exact same idea I had. Gladwin is a great name, very appropriate and definitely different. As far as I'm concerned, Gladwin it is!
And how's this for appropriate...the name Gladwin is derived from an Old English Anglo-Saxon name meaning "glad friend"!!!!!!!!!
That's perfect! Oh, I can't wait to see pics of him! I'll be in the Detroit area over Labor Day for a family reunion and I was trying to figure out how I could squeeze in a trip to the shelter. It's about 2 1/2 hrs from where I'd be.......staying with family........already taking 2 kids and 2 dogs........but a doodle in danger!!
Love Gladwin. Jennifer you are great for finding him :)
Hi Jennifer, if Adrienne doesn't find anyone closer I will be going to pick him up on Tues. Where will you be staying while you are in town? I live in Ann Arbor.
I'll be staying in St. Clair Shores, family reunion in Mt. Clemens. Thanks so much for getting him out!
We have family in St. Clair Shores, have a nice trip, we will keep you posted!
Nice work everyone and thanks so much for your efforts on behalf of Gladwin!! Love the name too!
Well, it seems that Mr. No Name has the fantastic name of Gladwin! I love it - it IS a win/win for him!
GLADWIN UPDATE!!

So let me just say that I feel PRIVLEDGED to be able to help out Gladwin. I was a bit nervous about my first rescue but have found it to be an experience unlike any other.

Gladwin is a happy dog. And he is a smart dog. He jumped right in the car from the shelter and rested, not slept, most of the 2.5 hour drive home. We stopped once and he did his potty and was very good with one stranger that approached. I had a divider gate between the front seat and the rear back and he during the second hour came up so I could reach him and give him some petting, in return he gave me nice kissess, but not too much.

He is extremely matted and dirty. It was my intention to give him a good scissor cut this afternoon to work my way thru it. I have never done that before, but he gave me his paw as if to say it's okay, I want you too. He then laid in my lap and started falling asleep while I cut through the mats and the burrs. His hair is so badly matted though at times I could tell where the skin ended and the fur started. I called our vet and he is there now getting shaved. So he made a ton of friends at the vet, people were already offering to take him! (I don't think they were serious) but he is a very FRIENDLY, well socialized dog. He wanted to meet everyone there! I really felt this was the right thing to do, even on his first day.

He is already responding to his name Gladwin, seems to know sit, laydown, stay. Whoever his family was are definately LOSERS. Whoever his family will be are WINNERS. I am a bit overwhelmed, I wish I could keep him. He has not yet met Bandit or Rosey, they are at care and will be brought home at 6:15. We will do the meet across the street at the park. That will bring us to part 2.
