4 Mos. F1 doodle with mixed coat.. Thick curly doodly coat on his chest, tummy and tail, wispy fine hair on the rest of the body.. Any thoughts doodle paw-rents? Anyone who had the same thing when their puppy is younger?

We do summer haircuts. Not shaved, just shorter. They are house dogs. I don't worry too much about them getting hot, because when I'm too hot we go inside. It's because they get so dirty in the summer, and I don't think it's fair to make them deal with the maintenance that all that hair requires when they want to play in the grass and water. I leave them longer in the winter, because that's how I like it. I like to think as long as they're not super short they still have enough hair for insulation.
I agree. We used to have folks come in with even "non clipper" type groom breeds and want them shaved. The groomer would explain but they didn't care. They wanted them shaved in the summer.
Omigosh! Your puppy is adorable! I love the crazy fuzzy look when they are little. We used to say we should have named our second doodle Kramer because he had that kind of wild look for a long time. He now has curly hair on his back with retriever hair on his belly. He's very doodley but just different than our curlier first doodle. It was a couple of years before he had his full adult coat. He was done with the dreaded coat change by age one but then it got thicker and thicker. Your baby is as cute as can be!
Such a cute puppy! Our GD is F1b, now 8 months old and he sheds like crazy. His coat has gone through a lot of changes since we've had him, from fuzzy/fluffy to very shaggy/coarse, but he has always shed- and it has gotten worse. Any experience from other doodle owners who's puppies shed? Did they grow out of it with the adult coat, or did it get worse? We knew there could be some shedding, but it is actually more that our previous lab/chow mix!
