Well, here we go again! We just got back from picking up Rufus who we are going to be fostering for the DRC. He is a ReHome. Rufus is a 2.5 y/o GoldenDoodle. So far I can say that he is incredibly calm. No jumping whatsoever. He definitely has a summer cut, but if his tail is any indication he is going to be beautiful when he grows out. His tail wags constantly and his face is always smiling. He seems like a very happy boy. We are starting out pretty much normal around here with Lucy being mean and bossy and Sophie wanting to play. Rufus I'm not sure has been around too many dogs because he just seems like he isn't sure what to do. He wants to be right with me, and Lucy wants him no where near me. Right this very second all is calm but I don't anticipate it staying that way. As I'm typing he is just laying right beside me on a dog bed. Look for more updates as we get more acquainted.
Another teapot tail! Rufus is very handsome, and I think he'll be beautiful when he grows out a bit. He looks like a big boy, too!
Poor guy is probably just confused; the rehomes always tear my heart the most. I'm so glad he has you to help him find his way. Thank you!
LOL- No, poodles tails are straight as arrows. It's a doodle term. I never heard it before I came into the doodle forums. Means a tail that curls into a circle at the end, like the handle of a teapot. Rufus dosn't really have one, but I know his foster mom likes curled up tails.
Thanks. Spud has a tea pot tail but there is no way he will let you touch his tail....and I don't think I would try to use it to pour anything out of there.
Glad he arrived safely and is getting to know your doodle family. Let us know if he starts to give doodle kisses-neither David nor I could get him to do that. Maybe the owners trained him not to? We didn't understand when we picked him up cause it was the 1st thing Lizzy did when we got her. He was great in the car with us-was he ok on the final leg home? He was so sweet-miss him already................
Linda .... He did really well in the car. He was a little nervous, but would settle down on the seat and then pop up whenever we stopped at a light or anything. No kisses, but lots and lots of smiles and he seems to just want to lean against me all the time. I agree that I don't think he has been around a lot of dogs, but he seems respectful of them. He and Sophie are becoming friends and Lucy is just being Lucy. He is going to make some family very very lucky.
Sheri-By the way, no other dogs at Rufus house and they we in the middle of nowhere so I doubt he had much contact except
Mom and Dad-will post pics tomorrow!
