More tainted treat info

I know we've had many, many discussions on tainted treats but I saw this post today on Facebook, from the "Dogs are Family" page and I thought I'd share it.

"This is my friend singing to his dog before he passed away. His dog died from eating tainted Waggin' Train dog treats. He wanted everyone to see this picture and know the story behind it so no one will lose a pet the way he did." The photo is of Joshua Ortiz and his "son", Fizzoli The Stud.

The FDA and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association have issued warnings about treats manufactured in China and now the FDA is investigating irradiation as the cause of the issues. In 2009, the Australian government banned the use of irradiation in pet foods following reports of paralysis and death in cats after eating irradiated cat food. Thanks Sherri, someone gave Quincy a bag of chicken jerky for Christmas and although I feel bad that they wasted their money the treats are going in the garbage.

Donna, not all chicken jerky is bad, there are still reliable brands out there. What kind is it?

weird that the picture didd't show up. it was of a guy comforting his little yorkie as he passed away. It was really sweet but really sad. I don't understand why they don't fix this problem. It is really hard to understand how anyone/company can put profit in front of the lives of our pets.

Most huge multinational corporations put profit in front of everything. They would put it in front of the lives of our children, too, if they could get away with it. That's why we have to look at more than price when we make purchases.

I asked Santa for a dehydrator for Christmas but I must not have been good enough because I didn't get one. Guess what Quincy is getting for his birthday in a few days. :>)
