Hi all. My male GD pup is almost 5 months old. He's high energy but the nipping has decreased. One thing I'm noticing is his love for mouthing hands. I'm starting to feel like this is not a puppy chewing thing but a habit that could last beyond puppyhood. He does it when saying hello and when people try to pet him. It doesn't hurt but I don't want it to continue. I stop petting or attempting to pet him when he does this. Anybody else have any experience with this?

This is very common in puppies. Keep offering him toys instead of hands. He needs to learn its not ok to put his teeth on skin! I'd make sure he has plenty of things to chew on. Hope that helps!

Doodles tend to be "mouthy dogs" particularly when they get excited.    My beloved Paz who recently passed away, was an incredible Pet Partners therapy dog;  as a puppy, Paz was very mouthy and I would immediately say "No" as I gently removed my hand and provided him with a toy to chew on.  Doodles are really smart, and respond well when you are consistent, in other words, your doodle needs to know that mouthing on a person's hand is absolutely unacceptable, whether it be you, or anyone else.

Paz completely stopped mouthing as he matured, and I was consistent in calmly letting him know that it was unacceptable, and substituting my hand with a chew toy.
