Marci and her son shlepped in traffic to go to pull Mr. No Name from the shelter.

Marci finally got Mr. No Name out of the Carson Shelter in LA County - not an easy feat I might add!

They made us both jump through hoops but we persisted, there was no way he was staying in that shelter, and he is now FREE!!

He got his vaccinations and still has to be neutered but that has to wait a little while yet. Have to wait for the wound on his neck (the black under his chin is NOT a collar - it is the wound from an embedded collar that had to be surgically removed) to heal a bit more.

Mr. No Name officially has a name - Kingston!

Marci and Son (sorry, I don't know your name) we can't thank you enough for taking an entire day to save the life of Kingston!!

We can't wait to see pictures and hear how Kingston is doing!!!

Great pictures. Bless you for saving him. He's on his way to a great new life.
So the grooming visit went well, I have pics to post but a dead battery on the camera ;) so give me a day or so. He is so sweet. Still very uncertain when it comes to human hands though. He won't take treats or anything from you, you have to put it down and when he feels like you are far enough away he will go towards it and take it. He has had a few accidents in the house, but we will keep working on that. I am really trying to let him just relax and get a feel for the fact that he is safe now. We'll see how the days ahead turn out :)

And to answer Nancy's question, we are just fostering--so if you know anyone that wants a great little boy let Adrianne know!
Wow, I haven't checked on this post in a few days. What a beautiful doodle. Just beautiful. It will take some time for him to warm up . Just keep dropping treats. My DH cooked dog cookies for a two weeks before Starlit would come to him. She would peek at him through the kitchen door. He made Pounds of dog cookies. She knew what he was doing but there was no way she would go to him. It takes awhile but soon he will feel safe.

Best wishes. We are all out here supporting you.
Can't wait to see the pics of the new Kingston! This boy deserves such a wonderful forever home! I hope he finds it within himself to trust again so he can enjoy it when you find it for him. What a story!
Marci, Kingston looks on the small side to me. Would you say he is a small medium?
Glad to hear that he is doing better! Each day you will see changes that will just make your heart soar!!!
Thank you and your entire family for jumping in with both feet to save this boy!!
Today we ran into another little speed bump. Green icky snot dripping out of Kingstons nose, sneezing, and coughing. A visit to the vet gave us more antibiotics and some benadryl and we shall keep our fingers crossed that it is a simple URI.

He has put on a few pounds since his last visit :) and has been a little more social. He still prefers to keep his distance unless you are willing to rub his belly and give him some love. He enjoys his toys and his bone. The wonderful thought that he is housebroken has gone out the window as he had several accidents while hanging out in the house. He does not know how to use the doggy door nor is he able to be coaxed through it since he won't take treats or any praise immediately. We will continue to work on these things.
My girls only use the dog door to run back in when I take the hose out for shower time! It might be to scary for him yet. I would treat him like a puppy - before and after meals, play, naps etc. He will get it. He lived on the street for at least a short while and in the shelter where whenever he needed to, he went potty.
A trainer friend of mine tells me that the Natural Balance treat rolls is something most dogs can't resist. Maybe he will find them high enough value that he won't hesitate to take them.
Thank you for doing this Marci. Clancy was housebroken luckily, but he decided he could mark his territory INSIDE. This was not on my agenda for him. I do think that even when they have been housebroken, they forget because the shelter kennels are not set up for going outside to pottyl. I also think that they hold it as long as they can, and that is one reason we get the poop on the car trip home.
How is he interacting with DeeDee? Perhaps she will show him how to use the doggy door. We have always shown our dogs and visiting dogs (treats do help), but actually it was more following the others that worked best. Might his cold be contagious?
Nancy--he is currently being taken care of at my parents house which is within walking distance so that Dee Dee will not be exposed to his giardia or uri. And yes, he is a smaller guy. He is about 40lbs as of today ;) (up 3lbs from Friday) and that small/med size. Once he is better and not contagious we will bring him home to Dee Dee to see how that works out ;) But all our vet visits have been very positive when meeting new friends :)

From 2010-08-13

There is a pic from today, and the slide show on page 3 has updated pics in it too.
I re-watched the slide show and saw the added pics. He is a darling dog with the sweetest face. Three pounds already! Wow! Clancy has gained 7 pounds spaced over 4 months but I can't tell if he needed to or not!
I am so glad that DeeDee isn't being exposed to his illnesses and hope he gets well fast so DeeDee can teach him a thing or two.
BTW Kingston really reminds me of my Peri. Same body type and coat, he is just a little lighter than my girl.
