What is the difference between Multigen and say F1b or F3, etc.?
I am starting to get confused...please help! :-)

Multigenerational is when labradoodle is bred to labradoodle. You don't get much stability in their traits though until about the 4th generation. With a second and third generation of labradoodle to labradoodle, you can genetically get a dog that looks much like the original retriever or poodle. F1B is when the doodle is crossed back to a poodle or retriever. If crossed back to a poodle, technically they have more poodle in them and if crossed back to a retriever, they have more retriever in them. Most F1b crossings are doodle to poodle.
There are also some pairings of labradoodle to goldendoodle.
Each generation can only earn a number higher than the lowest generation in the breeding. So, for example:
F1 + F1 = F2
F1 + F2 = F2
F1 + F1b = F2
F1 + F100 = F2
They products of all those combos are all F2's because an F1 was involved and the puppies can only be considered one generation higher than the lowest generation in the breeding (F1 in this case).
An F3 would be an F2 bred to an F2 or higher generation.
To me, since I prefer F1's, the only thing F3 and higher tells me is that they are a multigenerational doodle that is past the F1b or F2 stage. Really at that point, as a buyer, all I'd care about is what the parents were, what they looked like, what the pups are expected to be like (perhaps from past litter examples).
