Yesterday, after we took Huff to the vet, he was laying in front of his fan when another dog (at our shop) started sniffing him. All of a sudden with no warning, he kind of I guess snapped at her?! WTD?! I corrected him by making him lay back down and then I took him to the back room and kept him back there until she left (It was more of a punishment than just trying to keep them apart). Maybe he felt bad after being at the vet but I don't want to excuse him. The thing is that I don't know if he really snapped at her or not. It was more like a bark growl towards her. Is he protective of his fan? Is this just aggression? Is this the right place to post this discussion? Was he just grumpy after taking him to the vet? I don't know what to do about him.:( What do you guys think. He has done this a few times. Once when he was sleeping and the rest of the times since his ear started bothering him. What's weird is that he didn't try to grab her, if you know what I mean? Thanks guys:)

My dog Lincoln can be funny sometimes with other dogs especially on the walk.  It's usually certain dogs, and I don't know why he likes some and not others...he can't tell me of course...LOL  Strangely enough he did well at daycare when I used to take him, and there was never any issues.  Your dog could have been acting territorial.  It's good that you corrected him.  Sometimes they just don't like the other dog.  I had the most submissive dog in the world named Scottie, and he wouldn't hurt a fly, but there were other dogs that snapped at him for no reason whatsoever.  I guess they decide who they like and don't like too sometimes...He may not have wanted to be bothered either if he just went to the vet...  If he continues that behavior I'd speak to your vet about it.

Ya, I think that sometimes he just doesn't like certain dogs like french bulldogs and boston terriers but I don't know why. Maybe he was acting territorial but he doesn't do that all the time. There are always other dogs at our shop and he doesn't do that to everyone. He hardly ever does it. I guess I will see if he still does it after his ear infection clears up.
I don't know about that theory....our doodles love my daughter's French Bulldog....LOL!

Maybe they think that they are some kind of alien freaks haha:) One of my friends told me that her dad thinks standard poodles look like people. hahaha:) Huff kind of looks like a person.

I think Huff looks just like Vern in this picture. Wait till I tell my DD you think Frenchies look like alien beings....look out...LOL!

Bonzai says to tell Huff to keep an open mind :)

Ok, Bonzai, I have to give you you're props. You are quite cute for a frenchie!:) I am not just saying that because your mom will get mad at me. haha:) I bet Huff would like you. He is kind of too quick to judge though. You are used to doodle play:) But prepare yourself, Huff is a butt- flinger!:) If he can't fling you with his butt, he will try to knock you down by taking your legs out from under you. He is rough! You frenchies, are tough though, right? Huff will play with you once he gets used to you (if you ever meet:)). I just gave a frenchie a bath yesterday and afterwards he just wanted to cuddle. That is one reason why I like smaller dogs but not too small:).....

Taylor you can always post any doodle topic in the main forum.  If it's about your doodle it can be here =)

I wouldn't worry after one incident but I think you did good at redirecting him.  He was probably just wanting to be left alone...I guess.  Who knows why.  But if he's in pain it might make him more grumpy and he might need some time alone if he's sick or in pain.

Thanks:) He might need just that. Maybe his ears are really bothering him....

Peri gets like that after a looong day at daycare.  She will go off to her bed and if anyone messes with her, she growls.  Not a compete snap, but definitely a warning.  It is literally when she is exhausted and wants to be alone.

If it doesn't happen much, I would not worry. However, if it becomes a pattern, you should ask the vet.

Maybe he was tired. Does she do that to humans or just other dogs? Huff hasn't done it with people...yet.
