About 2 months ago, I was playing with my blue monkey on the footstool and started to bounce up and down on him.  I was having a great time, when I felt my mom lift me up and say “Oh no you don’t!  Let’s go outside and play ball!”  I was ok with that.  But since then, I have to admit I have been caught red-handed many times!

Last weekend, my sister and her husband came to visit for a long weekend.   I do love my sister, so I took my stuffed elephant over to her and started “playing” with him on the footstool.  I heard my sister shriek “Ewwwweee! What is wrong with him (I know she means me)?  When did HE start doing that?”  Then I feel my mom’s arms around me and she carried me into her bedroom and laid me on the bed.  I thought she was going to give me a tummy rub, but instead she examines my penis and gets a little streak of blood on her hand – not much, just a tiny bit.  Then I hear her say softly, “well, my little man, you are going to the doctor first thing tomorrow”.  Ok, I love to go to the vet – I play with the office cat there – yeah!

We did go to the doc yesterday (but I did not even see the cat) and the doc took one look at me and said, “Ouch -Charlie B you have everted your penis tip with your mounting behavior”. Then she looks at my mom and says that possibly I had a chemical reaction to something I rubbed it against.  Long story short, I had to have a pain injection and then stay there for a while and they did all sorts of things I did not like (they even put sugar inside my penis – apparently this reduces inflammation (who would have thought??).  Then everything was cleaned out.  2 hrs 24 minutes later I was ready to go home.  When my mom came in, I did not make eye contact with her.  I am mad she brought me in for this.  We went home and I laid around for the rest of the day.  I did not feel like eating or drinking.  I did go outside with my mom and dad for wine time, but I just wanted to lay on the chaise with my tiger.  As you can see from the photo, I was not happy!

Update this morning ~  I still feel bad and still do not want to eat.  My mom found the antibiotics she thought I swallowed last night in my muzzle this morning when she was brushing my head and now she is not happy about that!  The doc called to see how I am doing a few minutes ago and she suggested my mom try putting the pills in a piece of hot dog.  Yikes, is she kidding!  My mom is cooking me some chicken and rice right now hoping I will want to eat.  I think I just want to rest for a while.  I am sore and so tired.

Have any of you other doods had this experience?

Oh, by the way, I heard my mom and dad talking and they agreed if they see me even considering humping, they will be working as a team to redirect me.

Oh that is just great – I think my humping days are over,

Charlie Brown

Yes, the rimadyl is for pain. I hope you both get some rest and things are better tomorrow.

When I first brought Mojo home from the breeder he had diarrhea and didn't want to drink much so I froze homemade chicken broth (canned may have onions) and he would lick and nibble it as well as drink a bit of the smart water.

Linda, I don't know but it sounds like pain to me.  My boy won't eat anything or drink when he's in pain.  Good that you're taking him to the vet tomorrow.Oh poor Charlie.

I know - I am so glad I already have an appt first thing.  Thank you for your concern.

Sounds like pain to me also...when I had a procedure a few months ago I couldn't eat and the pain meds also make for nausea and loss of appetite. Hugs for sweet Charlie.

That was a neat read. Sorry Charlie Brown for your discomfort and possible loss of your favorite past time pleasure.lol

Charlie Brown you are in our thoughts today.  We hope the vet can find out why you are not feeling well:^(

Your friend Jake & Baxter

Oh Charlie Brown - how awful : (    I don't hump much at all... when I do I kind just stand there and hump, I hold nothing (I'm kind of tall) when my Mom sees this she just lets me out side and re-directs my energy to something else.  Since I am my Mom's first boy dog I think she is learning.  I hope you feel better real soon buddy !!!!

UPDATE ~ WE ARE HOME FROM THE VET!

First of all I want to thank each and everyone of you for your concern.  I was very upset last night because he was on the end of the second day of not eating and only licking an ice cube here and there!  DK really does help calm the nerves when something is not going right for our doodles!

Karen thank you for all your advise last night - I did add some apple juice to a little water and he actually drank about 1/8 cup before we went to bed.  I think the fact I finally figured out butter was the miracle to getting him to take his pain meds yesterday also helped.  He woke up this a.m. with a little sparkle in his eyes - yeah, and then went over to his water bowl for a little drink, a much improvement from the day before.  He still did not want to eat anything.  I boiled chicken and rice this a.m., but he snubbed his nose at that.

We went to the vet this a.m. - and the doctor felt he was probably experiencing some pain and just did not feel well enough to eat.  She was happy with the way the penis looked - most of the inflammation had gone down except at the tip which was still inflamed and also still slightly everted.  She thought a couple more days and he should be his old self.  The vet said she had a treat for him and went out of the room and brought him back a little piece of bread with peanut butter on it!  I was thinking - oh don't waste your time, and/or your lunch!! LOL  He would not even touch it.  He has never liked peanut butter.  Since he does seem to like butter, she suggested a little piece of toast with butter and when we came home I made that and he ate 3 bites.  He is resting and I really do think he feels better.  Hopefully that chicken will look better to him tonight and all things will be back to normal.  He will be on his pain and antibiotic 3 more days.

Thanks again!

Glad to hear things are looking up. I'd go light on the butter, that's a lot of fat and Charlie Brown does not need pancreatitis.

I agree with F, both peanut butter and regular butter are loaded with fat, and high fat foods can contribute to an attack of pancreatitis, so go very easy on that.

I'm glad he's feeling better. Hope he continues to improve.

Geez, just when I thought I found the magic to get these meds down.  I did not think about pancreatitis!  In his short little life, he has been the picture of health until this self-induced trauma.  I do not need to be creating any other problems.  I will figure something out other than butter or fat. Thanks Karen and F.
