Hey guys, I am a little down because mommy says I am F-A-T:( When she took us to get weighed yesterday I was 29.5 lbs. I should be low 20's. I tried to convince mommy (and my girlfriend) that it was ALL MUSCLE, but I don't think they are buying it:( My stats are: boy, 19" tall, 9.5 months old. Love to sleep, Love to eat. I chase Rosey a lot, I usually go to care but haven't since my illness. Mommy walks us on days we don't got to care but has been a bit "preoccupied" lately. Mommy switched my food to Wellness Adult 2 weeks ago, 5/8cup per serving. She knows she should have switched puppy food earlier and is all sad about that. But point is I need to lose some LBS F-A-S-T.... Any ideas??
Couple questions:
Do marrow bones have a lot of calories? I just love'm
How much exercise should I get?
What are good treats-low cal but tasty enough for my OB training?

Once the bones look like those above, they have no calories at all. The marrow is gone. Anything he gets off of them once the marrow is gone is non-caloric bone. So you only have to think about the calories in the new ones that still have marrow.

Partly from my old textbooks...kept most of them for reference. Partly from my research when i was working with human clients. And partly from researching for the Food Group. You know me Christine, I don't do anything half-way, lol.

I like bones. Does your mom cook those marrow bones? Where does she get them and what flavors do they come in? Do they taste good?

No she gives them to us frozen. I think they only come in one flavor, cow. AND YES they are our FAVORITE!!

You can actually buy frozen elk, deer, and maybe bison marrow bones (I forget which animlas they had, maybe ostrich, too) at some pet supply stores. But they're a lot pricier than getting beef marrow bones from the butcher.

ours are sold at a higher end pet store and made by http://www.primalpetfoods.com/. We have never had an issue with these upsetting tummies and they are about 6.50 for 6 bones...

Hey Bandit one of my favorite treats are ice cubes low in calories and CRUNCHY I can't get enough of them. Last time I was at the vet I was a bit over my 50lb goal too, I think it is our hair that adds the extra lbs!

Hey there little Bandit...you are not a FAT Doodle! I maintain my svelt figure at an even 72 lbs. But when I had my paw surgery and couldn't do any exercise I went up a few pounds. We Doodles need to be walked and played with EVERY day and really blow off some steam. I am an only child so I have to rely on my parents to take me out and throw my ball. Walks just don't do it for me. I need to run and breath hard. I'm sure it is just because of your illness and the fact your mommy has been "preoccupied". Also, switching food can do it. I know my parents switched mine once and I blew up like a tick. It was way too fattening! They talked to the powers that be in the food group and found Acana Grain-Free for me and now I maintain my weight perfectly. Get back out there running around like crazy and have your mommy talk to the Food Gurus about your food. You'll be down in weight in no time. Besides, you are not done growing so how do they even know what you should weigh? I didn't finish until I was 2 years old! You are just a young Doodle still growing!!!! I wish I was small and young again so I could give your girlfriend a run for her money...Tara...right? Don't let it worry you...you are not FAT...Licks from Gracie Doodle.

ohhh GRACIE, you are a foxy doodle too! And you are like a sissy to me and I appreciate all your nursing from far away to make me better:) Mom's just worried how round my belly is gettin' and I promise I don't drink beer..I think I need to get back to care, mom just wants to make sure I am healthy enough since last week she had to pick me up early cuz I got the shakes.. And Aunt Karen is on my case, if anyone can help me get thin and show my muscles, she can. And T-A-R-A will be so thankful, I may just be spending toooo much time dreamin' of her:) Thanks for your continued care, I know my sissy would love to play ball with you if she could:) DK's to you GD

Hey Gracie Doodle thanks for bein so nice to Bandy Baby. His mommy is goin thru a real rough time right now and the doodles are sufferin. She didn't even buy him or Rosey any toys last time she took them to the pet store!! It is SO sad!! :( And now this D-I-E-T thing... no toys and now no FOOD!! How bad can it get???

I'm glad I don't have to do the "run for the money" thing you are talking about because I just have short little legs and would lose or get trampled. Besides mommy doesn't let me run with the big dogs. What's money anyhow'?
