Hey guys, I am a little down because mommy says I am F-A-T:( When she took us to get weighed yesterday I was 29.5 lbs. I should be low 20's. I tried to convince mommy (and my girlfriend) that it was ALL MUSCLE, but I don't think they are buying it:( My stats are: boy, 19" tall, 9.5 months old. Love to sleep, Love to eat. I chase Rosey a lot, I usually go to care but haven't since my illness. Mommy walks us on days we don't got to care but has been a bit "preoccupied" lately. Mommy switched my food to Wellness Adult 2 weeks ago, 5/8cup per serving. She knows she should have switched puppy food earlier and is all sad about that. But point is I need to lose some LBS F-A-S-T.... Any ideas??
Couple questions:
Do marrow bones have a lot of calories? I just love'm
How much exercise should I get?
What are good treats-low cal but tasty enough for my OB training?

Bandit dood - I feel your pain! When Wilbur Foster Doodle was at my house I gained 6 lbs. Wilbur only gained 3lbs and he needed to gain 15 (turns out he had a lingering worm issue)! Dr. Shannon had a "talk" with my mom about it and said that I wasn't at a healthy weight and my mom felt sooooo bad. She said we were "cutting back". I was completely confused. Cutting back what? I'd already gotten my spring haircut! Turns out she meant food and treats. Double bummer!

Bandit - it turns out that it wasn't so bad. Instead of always feeding me two cups of food a day, Mom now varies the amount based on how active I've been during the day (and it truth it was so stinking hot this summer that I didn't feel much like eating) and it turns out to be ok. It took all summer, but I'm nice and svelte again. Mom says she "found" the weight I "lost" but I don't care (mom seems to care a whole lot about it though - maybe she needs to visit Ms Karen to get back on track. That would be awesome - I think Jackdoodle and I would get along very well).

Here's the upside to the whole thing Bandit buddy - we will ALWAYS have an advantage over the other doods that keeps us looking slim. WE'RE PERMANENTLY DRESSED IN BLACK!!!

Hey Callie! Ya know it's just not fair, Rosey can eat whatever she wants and remains as slim and trim as a supermodel. But me, a couple extra milkbones and look at me, all kinds a nicknames, roly poly, pot belly pig, chubster, I mean I can't help that my mom fed me too many treats and kept me on puppy kibble too long!

My mom needs to visit Ms. Karen too, maybe she will do a group session at a discount and then us doods can hang out and teach each other all kinds of tricks to play on our moms for makin' us fat!!

Oh Bandy Baby, why is your mommy puttin' you through this public humiliation??? Is she still grumpy because of the inside rain storm?? When I was little my mommy was the same way..."too fat-cut back her food...too skinny-stuff her face"...mommies just worry about crazy stuff. I saw you zoomin around your indoor race track and if you keep that up she'll be stuffin your face cause your too skinny real soon!!! That's the BEST!!!

My favorite treats are freeze dried liver but I don't know how many calories are in a liver. Maybe Karen knows. My mommy calls them "the mother of all treats" because I will do ANYTHING for a liver treat!! :) I like marrow bones too but you can keep the bone part. I just like suckin out the marrow!! YUM!!!

I think you just got "fluffy" when you were sick and couldn't move and now that you're zoomin and frolickin (hee hee) again it will all get better really fast. Tell your mommy to relax and take a nice hot shower in her new walk in.

The liver treats shouls have the calorie content on the package. Otherwise, if you know the brand, you can look it up on-line.

It looks like the liver treats are about 10 calories per treat but they can easily be broken into small bites especially for training purposes.

Everytime mommy measures me it is different!! I think it depends on my hair!! Today I am 16 inches tall at the shoulder and I weigh 19 pounds.

T-Baby, girlfriend! I am sooo embarrassed that you saw this! I mean it's mom's fault she stuffs my face with sooo many goodies cuz she can't resist my cute little face, especially my puppy dog eyes...And how am I supposed to learn anything without eating??? Geez it's all sooo confusing. AND, she doesn't even know how tall I am so how can she know that I am fat?? I am tellin' you though it is ALL MUSCLE, I need it for the football season. I know you like jocks!

Bandy Baby, don't EVEN worry bout it!!! I know its the mommy. She's doing the best she can. She thinks she is gettin help for ya but in the process she's speadin all your personal and private info all over the INTERNET!!!! I mean doodles in Australia are probably readin this!!! :(

Bandit, My mom says I am on the hefty side too, but I LOVE to eat. I think the problem is that Fudge does not eat fast enough and I am trying to be a good boy and help her out. Moms are weird. I need my food and treats, because it takes a lot of energy to dig big holes in the yard, pounce on Fudge, stalk the cat, and roll in the mud. All I know is I weighed 71 pounds at the vet's last time and I am only 8 months. My mom said at this rate, she is going to be able to ride me to the dog park next year. Whatever. Good luck!
