Hey guys, I am a little down because mommy says I am F-A-T:( When she took us to get weighed yesterday I was 29.5 lbs. I should be low 20's. I tried to convince mommy (and my girlfriend) that it was ALL MUSCLE, but I don't think they are buying it:( My stats are: boy, 19" tall, 9.5 months old. Love to sleep, Love to eat. I chase Rosey a lot, I usually go to care but haven't since my illness. Mommy walks us on days we don't got to care but has been a bit "preoccupied" lately. Mommy switched my food to Wellness Adult 2 weeks ago, 5/8cup per serving. She knows she should have switched puppy food earlier and is all sad about that. But point is I need to lose some LBS F-A-S-T.... Any ideas??
Couple questions:
Do marrow bones have a lot of calories? I just love'm
How much exercise should I get?
What are good treats-low cal but tasty enough for my OB training?
Thanks guys & gals I appreciate the support and may I be the Biggest Loser of this fall season..
Oh, Bandit, I am sorry to hear you have packed on the pounds. Pocket's friend Stanley (a 10 year old Norwegian Elkhound) was rescued last year at more than 70lbs overweight (122lbs, when he should be about 50). In a just over a year he has already lost about 40lbs. I have no doubt that if the elderly Stanley, who could barely walk a block at first, can have a successful diet, so can you! I hear he eats lots of canned green beans and fresh carrots for snacks, and exercises regularly. Here is his FB page, maybe you can be diet buddies. http://www.facebook.com/stanleydog
19" tall? That is 2" taller than Peri and Peri is 25 pounds. Vet says she is the perfect weight. You can still press on her side and feel her ribs and she has a "waist" when you look down on her from above. I think at 9.5 months, Bandit is filling out...really. However, you vet says to watch it..hmmm.... Just watch the treats. Have you tried the Fromm ones? They have low fat, low cal ones. I also give carrots and apples, both low cal. I also give Peri less than what the Fromm bag tells me (I know you feed another brand so it's different). Fromm tells me to feed 1 1/2 cups daily. I feed a little over 1. Vet said she was perfect and no need to gain anymore, so I cut back a bit (because she gets veggie toppings sometimes and treats here and there).
I don't think he is that tall, I think he is about 13" tall, Rosey is probably like 19" tall. I cannot feel his ribs or see his waist, he has a really round belly.. i will measure him when I get home from work:)
Oh!!! I misread that...so sorry. Okay, for 13", time to cut back on the treats dood. I would also reduce the food amounts - just my opinion. Top it with some cooked carrots (don't add anything, I boil some chopped ones for about 5-7 minutes) or green beans (no salt). That can help replace the food with lower caloried items that are good for him :)
no I just don't know exactly how tall he is, I need to measure him. I will update the stats tonight:) BTW I was reading your response so fast I thought you said boil some chopped onions! I was like WTD?? That will make him not eat for sure!! LOL!
Peri and Bandit are the same size!! Bandit is 17" tall, so he probaly needs to lose about 4-5 lbs. Goodness, it's hard enough for me to diet!! Rosey is 22" tall and weighs 46 lbs but I can tell she is healthy weight, plus she is way more active. I will look for the Fromm treats too. Thanks!!
Hey Tara! maybe we will be famous if all those people are readin' about me!! I better start getting into shape if the pawparazzi starts chasin me!
I don't think you need OB class, you sit so pretty in all your photos you obvisously are very well behaved!! But it would be fun if you were there... talk about a distraction! xoxo-Bandit
