Niko is now 11 weeks and is looking more like a retriever and less like a doodle. He wavy hair he had last week is gone. He was shedding a good bit  this week which I thought was strange. I’m thinking less now that he may still get the doodle look. He’s so ornery and is a ball of energy. He hates his crate and he follows us everywhere biting our legs and clothes.

Believe it or not, the biting will stop. I have so many holes in pants, long sleeve shirts and coats. One

day I just noticed, she’s not biting anymore. I think she was around one.

Oh he is very cute.  He has doodle in him, but he does look like an "open" faced doodle.  Some members have open faced doodles...they are all so incredibly smart and sweet.  The biting does stop and does create quite the challenge to re-direct to something they can chew on to keep them off the humans.   At this stage it's best to keep excitement very low...no chase games, unless you have something they can grab onto besides you and your clothes.  Ours didn't settle down til around 6 months.  Until she did settled down, she was in her crate or tied to a weight in the living room so she couldn't lunge after me when I walked by LOL.  Good luck, do a lot of reading and take a lot of pictures...they grow so fast.

Lol this made me laugh when you mentioned lunging. Niko pounces like he's a cat! He's learning to bark now too and he goes crazy when we are eating. I swear he's always hungry

I figured he is going to have an open face. I have been hoping he may still grow around the muzzle but doesn't look promising. He's actually an F1b, his mom is a smooth coat golden doodle and dad is poodle so I'm surprised he isn't more doodley

If he is a F1b, he will probably get more "doodley" with a little age.  I love the F1b doodles and think they are the best.  Wonderful coats - at least in my experience.  Take a look at my photos and Groucho Too, an F1b goldendoodle with a phantom poodle father.  I loved the phantom poodle part so much that I wanted another one like him.  I ended up with a sheepadoodle with a phantom poodle father.  She is a beautiful dog also but with a coat that mats more than that of my phantom goldendoodle.

yeah I thought he would be more doodle too. The breeder seems to think he will stay more retriever looking. His mom is a sport smooth coat doodle and his father is poodle so I guess we will see. My kids actually wanted a more golden look so thats why we picked him but I really wanted a wavy doodle so I'm still secretly hoping. lol Your dogs are beautiful! I love the phantom look!

He has an especially cute profile.  He is in the crummy part of the puppy stage. There are several techniques you can use to teach him that biting you isn't acceptable, but it takes time and him maturing.

Thank you so much! He will be my 7th pup I've trained and I can already tell he's gonna be a tough one.

It’s so hard to tell what he will look like in the end. I’ve been told that my doodle has an open face, but it starting to grow very long chin hairs and is become curlier by the day. (Which I thought they couldn’t be open faced with curls, I’m still confused as to what type of fur my doodle has.) I think your baby is so cute! He does look very retriever-ish but again they can change so much from his age to 2 years old. You should post updates to show how he has changed!

They can be curly with an open face; there are two different genes that control those things. Curl is one and furnishings is another. So you can have open faced dogs with very curly coats (like Curly Coated Retrievers) and you can also have straight coated dogs with shaggy face (like Schnauzers). Most open -faced doodles have very curly hair on their heads and ears, and often on their chests.

I will definitely keep posting pics! I love seeing everyone elses pics

He looks very much like a goldendoodle puppy to me.  You want to get him into some puppy training classes because you don't want him biting your legs.  I think the shedding was just losing his puppy coat.  With a little training, he will be just fine.  My dogs also do not do crates.  You have to work on that if you want to use crates for quiet times or transportation.
