My Weird Girls

[Judy, Meg & Polly Wolly Doodle]

My girls are my favorite of all the dogs I have ever shared a home with...having said that they are sometimes so weird!!

We have always struggled to keep Polly interested in eating.  We tried Doggy Dan's method of acting like we were eating over her bowl, it worked for a week or so.  We added a spoonful of yogurt, worked a bit but still had to beg her. She often walks away from her food and goes exploring, then I have to pick it up because Meg would finish if she had a chance.   It is always a struggle for breakfast but when dinner time comes she buries her face in the bowl and stays there until finished.

Two weeks ago I put her food down and picked up four pieces of kibble and laid a path to her bowl.  She now eats the path on her way and then starts eating and stays put until she is done.  ????? Amusing, but honestly, how weird?  Takes a lot to figure them out sometimes, hope this continues to work.

I know I don't have the only odd doodles, what do yours do?

[Amy and Annabelle]

I have one weird girl. She can be a picky eater. But also she is picky about where I put her food bowl. She will show me where she wants it, but I put it where I want it. She will take her nose and move it to the spot she wants it, and eat. If I put the bowl down where she wants me to, she will eat it and not move it. I tried this as an experiment, but otherwise, I always put it in the same spot where I want to. The spot she chooses isn't consistent. It could be one place at breakfast and somewhere different and dinner. I have 2 dozen 10oz Corelle bowls that I use for her food and yogurt snack, so I use 3 a day. I like them because they hold her 1/2 Cup of food per meal perfectly, then I can throw them in the dishwasher after each use. I guess they are also easy to push around on a wood floor.

It takes Charlie about 10 -15 minutes to eat his breakfast.  He chews one piece of kibble at a time - kinda like a person setting the fork down in between bites! Yikes.

Tara won't eat out of a bowl. She has to have her food on a plate. Even her water bowl has to be large so she doesn't have to stick her face down into it. :)

[Anne & Mr. Haley]

Haley has to stand parallel to the wall to eat.  He is wearing the COS due to a hot spot.  I tried to be helpful by moving his bowl away from the wall.  Haley would not eat until I put it close to the wall where he usually eats.  Other than that nothing weird about his eating.

Oh Mr. Haley not the COS!!! So sorry. At least your mom knows how to serve your meals properly! LOL

[Sam&Bella]

 Doodles are very weird creatures, but they are so cute!!(and great doggies:)  But don't worry,Bella is WAY more weird! After she eats peanut butter, she gives her leg a bath, brings us shredded paper towels out of the garbage,(as to tell us she has an addiction:) licks us every single time after she drinks water, hears a little noise when she is sleeping, and then acts like there's an intruder.(yet, when people are mowing our yard, she doesn't even care!) There are tons of odd things that she does besides these!

 All you can do is enjoy the weirdness of doodles, and laugh at them!

[Amy and Annabelle]

Annabelle likes paper towels, but her favorite go to paper product is used kleenex. It is like crack to her I believe. She just can't help herself.

[Sam&Bella]

Bella prefers the quality of the paper towels, as the sound of ripping amuses her! (I don't know why, but that is how I think Bella would word it!)

I think she thinks it funny too! One time she brought a pizza crust to me with about 5 paper towels attached to it, and I swear I heard her say, "please help me... I can't stop myself!"

[Andrea, Belle and Honey]

Belle likes to chew any kind of paper, but her very favorite is kleenex also - I'm short, and mini Belle is such a good jumper that I have to stand on a step stool to blow my nose. Weird, and stubborn too - now that I have tied the cushion on my computer chair so she can't steal it any more, and I put a box over it so she can't eat it while I'm not using it, she gently nibbles a hole and pulls the stuffing out WHILE I AM SITTING ON IT.

I am laughing just picturing you climbing a stepstool to blow your nose!
