This particular recall involves only the frozen raw chicken products with the 11/10/10 date. This is a voluntary recall on the part of the company, which means there is a possibility of salmonella contamination in these products, but no pets have actually been affected at this point.
It is commendable that the company took a pro-active stance by recalling the products before any pets got sick. However, Nature's Variety had a change in ownership this past year, which is always cause for caution. If there is a quality control problem in one area, there may be others.

Thanks Karen for the complete info. I didn't catch that it had already been posted, I know a lot of owners mention feeding NV, us included for Brandy. I read my email notice on the recall early this morning, fed the doggies and had to still make lunches... I only checked the front page here for a posting.... My bad didn't do a 'search'.

No, it's good to get it out in the main forum- some people aren't FG members or don't get notice of new posts made there. Thank you for posting it here!
But it is a good idea for all FG members to click "follow" on the above discussion so you'll be notified of new recall info.

That is a great idea....also, I wonder if we could get an automatic 'message to all DK members' if there is a recall notice posted in the FG? So noone would miss the info.... we all feed our dogs and recalls scare me!! I would want to know.

I can send a message to all the FG members who allow email messages from the group- but only Adina can send messages to every DK member, and even then they would have to allow the emails in their settings.
