Need advice on uploading a video...

I've tried uploading a video (several times with several different uploading methods) but no matter what approach I take, the upload is unsuccessful.  The video is relatively small so it's within the uploading parameters.  I keep getting error messages.  Better add that I'm using a Mac, with current OS.  Any suggestions????

Deanna, I will assume it is one of these .mov, .mp4, .mpg, .avi, .wmv, .3gp, and .3g2 file formats.  Do you have a YouTube account?  I sometimes upload to YouTube and take the embed code and paste it where I want.

 

Other than that, I don't have a Mac so not sure what could be wrong.  I uploaded a video last weekend and it worked.

No YouTube account, but I may look into one.  The video is .mp4 and I successfully uploaded a larger video to Facebook, so format doesn't seem to be the problem.  The video is cute, but not a "must upload"; however, now it's turned into a "me vs. technology" battle, so it's going to work, come hell or high water!!!!

YouTube accounts are easy to set up and if you have the right phone, you can upload a video directly from your phone to YouTube.

Thanks, Dori.  I set up an account and "embedded" my video.  I'm not sure yet where it went, but it's here on DK someplace.

Don't feel bad, I spent hours in thst same battle when I joined DK in fact I have that battle on a daily basis!!

I tend to upload to YouTube first and then just embed the YouTube code here first.  But I will check into things for you.

Thanks, Adina.  I embedded the video from my new YouTube account.  Now if I could just find where it's embedded...  Just when I start thinking I'm pretty solid technologically speaking, something like this comes along to "put me in my place"!

Have you checked the main video page? I would expect it there. It does show on our front page in the 'Latest Activity' that you just added a video so it should be there as well as in the video list on your profile page.

Yep!  It's there.  It only took half a day, numerous failed attempts, lots of good advice, a new YouTube account, and plenty of frustration, BUT I am the victor of the Deanna vs. Technology battle (this time)!!

Did you ever check ino this? I have been having the same problem. I can't upload directly on the site. I tried 4 videos, all the same format and approxmately the same size, and only one was successful. The rest just give me an error message. it's annoying because it takes a long time for the video to upload and after waiting all that time it says it didn't work...

I guess i'm going to try the youtube thingy.

I've uploaded to u-tube first then planted the "link" on  this community page. Works best for me.
