My puppy has been scratching and biting really bad to the point he is making his hair come out. I have taken him to many Dr. and they said he was to younge for a allergy test, and they can't seem to figure out whats the rest. I am spending alot of money but no results. My puppy and I are very miserable. Any suggestions?
I am by no means an expert and it sounds as though you and your vet are trying everything you can think of. We had a dog who was very sensitive to fleas. You would think that he had a major flea infestation the way he would scratch and chew from flea bites. With Cody, the scratching/licking/chewing developed into a habit that would come up when he got bored. He would give himself raw spots from his licking/biting/scratching/chewing. Is it possible that your puppy, being very sensitive to itches, has developed a habit of scratching? My son picks and scratches his insect bites long past the time when they itch. I would recommend a soft cone-collar for your pup to discourage the scratching. It costs about $25 and may help his itches heal. (Considered this for my son but he knows how to work velcro.) Good luck - I know this is very frusterating!
