New Here! We Just Lost Our Beloved Labradoodle, Puddles, A Few Weeks Ago!!

Hello everyone!  I am so thrilled to have found Doodle Kisses!  Just got accepted so thought I would post right away.  Our family had the most spoiled, most precious Black Labradoodle, Puddles, for almost seven years..........we loved her ever so much.......she really loved vanilla ice cream cones and loved to go for rides in the car.....she often slept in bed with us......LOL!

Anyhow, just a few weeks ago, we lost her very unexpectedly.......what a horrendous shock.....our entire family was crying our hearts out........it felt like some of us died with her.  The hurt.......it's so undescribable......a hurt like no other........grief is overwhelming.....our house has been unbearably quiet.......this is one of the most devastating losses we've ever suffered and it's difficult to shake the sadness and depression.

We had our precious Puddles cremated at the Animal Rescue League and brought her back home to be with us.  I bought a lovely oak urn, that will hold her picture and is engraved "Our Precious Puddles."  That brings a bit of comfort, having her back home.

We started going to the Animal Rescue League on a regular basis, checking out their dogs....to no avail so I've been practically living online, trying to find another Doodle.......just not black.  Finally, after many e-mails, phone calls, etc.. I finally located an 8 week old Golden Doodle little guy, who's only about an hour from our house!  I called the man today, then talked to my husband.  We have an appointment to drive over on Friday to check out the little guy.  I spoke with the gentleman for about an hour and had very good "feelings" about this (I'd also spoken to someone else but had "bad" vibes, as they had far too many dogs/puppies).

If we get the little Golden Doodle, it will be two weeks before we can bring him home, as he's getting neutered, but that's okey......it will give us time to get the house ready.

Nobody will ever take the place of our beloved Puddles, nor will we ever forget her......we're hoping that a new puppy will help us all.

Anybody have any ideas for a name for a little golden guy?

I'm so very glad to be a new member here!

Hi there!  So sorry for not replying right away......this morning we headed over to check out the little male Golden Doodle puppy.....I could hardly sleep last night.........it's been such a devastating loss, losing Puddles.....thanks for your very kind words, and I was so terribly sorry that you lost a precious doggie, as well.........it seems like the pain is so deep, so intense, and seems like it will never go away........Puddles was so very, very special to us....it was like part of us died with her.  It is, however, comforting, I think to have the ashes back with us at home, don't you think?

I love the name, Charlie Brown!!!!  Soooo sweet!  Anyhow, somehow in the middle of the night, the name, "Boomer," came to me.......really funny......we did venture over to check the little guy out and fell in love with him, as well as with the other little guy.....there were two males!  Sooooo hard to choose, but we finally decided on the really "furry" Doodle.......we spent two hours at the guy's home, he even gave us coffee and we all sat at his table and chatted for the longest time and brought in his own dogs/pets.....they were so very loving.....I knew right away that this was a very loving environment.

So.....September 12th, we'll be bringing "Boomer" home!  He will be 10 weeks old then, has been microchipped, all his shots, paperwork, health guarantee, etc., etc........and is being neutered next week!  We will always have Puddles in our heart and will never forget her!

Congratulations!

Thanks so very, very much!!!!!  Oh my goodness, I am really behind on replying to posts......am slowly getting caught up here!  I absolutely LOVE this group and you all......everyone's so great, supportive, and so much neat stuff to share!!!

It is a great place.

Welcome Boomer :)  You've got some big shoes to fill but I think Puddles would approve.  All the best with this little guy.

Thanks so much :) !!!!!!

So sorry to hear this!!!! What did Puddles die from?  There have been quite a few doodles dying suddenly with no signs of being sick.  If you want to check in thedoodlezoo which is another forum just to explain what happened to your Puddles.  I am sure many of the other doodle owners would share their experiences.  Something just isn't right!!!!!

Hi there!  Thanks so much for your kind words....,....Puddles was almost 7 years old and had never been spayed.....hubby had always wanted a litter of puppies, but I said it wasn't feasible and that Puddles should have been spayed a long, long time ago.....he kept saying NO.........I had read somewhere that, the older a dog gets, without having been spayed/neutered, one is quite susceptible to major infections and "problems."  She hadn't been feeling good for the last week of her life, so we took her to the vet.  He gave her some meds and said she needed to be spayed immediately..........we had her spayed on a Monday morning and she was gone on Wednesday.........what a devastating shock....it hurt so terribly, terribly bad, I just wanted to die myself.  Hmmmm, perhaps I should check over there, at the other forum, but I'm almost afraid to right now.....if you know what I mean.

Boomer! I knew you would pick a great name. Sounds like you found a good breeder.

Hi Bonnie & Kona!  Thanks so much!  I live in Iowa and, unfortunately, our state has gotten a very bad reputation for puppy mills.........therefore, it's ever so important to do good research and not rush into a decision.  Hubby still thinks the puppy should be named "Bowser."  I say "eeeeeeeyuck!"  I think "Boomer" just has a "cuter" bounce to it.....but like the breeder said, we could always name him "Bowser Boomer!!"  Too funny!

I think this afternoon we're going to run over to Petsakes to look for a new leash.  We have Puddles' red one, but that's HER'S!  It will most likely be put alongside her urn and collar!!!!!  I would NOT be comfortable using it.......Puddles always knew the red one was her's.........she even liked to drag it around the house......soooo funny!!!!!

Puddles sounds like such a special girl. I'm sure "BB" will have a whole set of delightful personality quirks too.

Boomer is a great name!  Can't wait to see pictures!
