Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey guys, so happy to had found this website I felt I have discovered a treasure
Okay coming back to the doodles, we have a straight haired little one and the breeder advertised as 100% non shedding and as a F3 and then all the heavy shedding started as soon as he was here, he's today 8 weeks and weighs 13lbs, my 2 questions are will he start looking doodly so we know the shedding also will lessen then, secondly his mom was 65 and dad the poodle is 40lbs but this guy doesn't look close to that, lastly we feel he's a lab/retriever as the lady who sold this had told too many lies about him his health and all, but we had already bought him and now can't leave him just due to shedding or money as he's ours our baby, but how can we know for sure he's a Labradoodle without doing the DNA testing and all, can you guys help me recognize him from one of your straight haired puppies and also the heavy shedding where's it's everywhere in blinds and even in my mouth sometimes What do I do ? he hates brushing and nips me all the time when I do... Thank you

I agree.I think he looks like a retriever mix from the pictures. Did you see the parents? Also, where did you get him?(private message since we are not allowed to talk about a specific breeder in discussions:) When Bella was a puppy and now, she thinks its a game when I brush her!
Good luck!
Oh sorry! I forgot! I will friend you, and then you have to accept, then you go to my page and click on the link under the profile picture that says "send message". then it should work!
You know, when we were visiting Rosie she never seemed to shed until our visit at 7 weeks. Now she sheds like a monster. Maybe it is a phase. It can be frustrating when you are not sure if your breeder is honest with you. Our breeder assures us that she has the beginnings of a beard and brows, but I don't see it.
No matter what happens with the coats, it is all about having fun with the pups.
I would suggest you wait until he is tired and sleeping and then gently brush him with a soft brush. I found the puppy coat relatively easy maintenance, but I did brush ours daily (head and tails at the very least), just to get them used to being handled. He is sure a cutie.
When you get a puppy that far down the breeding line, you can't really tell what you have because there are just too many possibilities. F1 or F1b would be as far as I would go, and my breeder spays or neuters all F1b pups so things do not get so convoluted. He does look like a labradoodle, but more lab. Shedding is not unusual with puppies as he may be losing his coat already but I would say just enjoy him and get started with the baths right away. Every time you handle him, brush him a little and be sure to clean and check his eyes, ears, and pads constantly. That way he gets used to being handled and brushed. Good luck with your darling little puppy.
F2 and F3 are the least reliable with doodle mix traits, Lynda. Most reliable is greater than 4th generation.
