awe, yeah they are a lot of fun. Thanks!
I just love your doodles, Linda...do they miss me as much as I miss them??
I was dead-set on a male when we were on our breeder's mini goldendoodle waitlist....I do think if you were to poll everyone, more people would say their female is a little more independent and that their male is slightly more loving. But I do think it depends completely on the dog's unique personality, not just his/her sex.
We ended up with a female simply because the litter had more females and I would have had to wait much longer for a male. I wouldn't trade her for the world. But if I had a male, I wouldn't trade him for the world. I grew up with dogs in the house my entire life and we never had a female. My parents finally got a female before I got Peri and she is independent, not as clingy, etc...just like my Peri. That being said, she's probably the most interesting/quirky dog my parents have ever had. And I would say the same about Peri. She is just hilarious and her mind is always working....
Again, I just don't think you can go wrong with either. Trust your breeder's judgement.
Misti if you haven't done so already, I suggest you join the Puppy Madness Group here on DK. As questions arise with your new family member you can find a lot of information and support in that group. Best wishes to you all!
I have heard boy cats and girl dogs are the way to go. Personally I like girl dogs 1) they don't pee on everything they see and yes I know you can train them but with a girl dog they squort naturally 2) No excited thing sticking out and no explaining to the kids what it is and why it is there. 3) they don't spray their scent or pee on your bushes house chairs etc. Well that's my opinion
Not bad thinkin'!
.....explain to the kids......LOL
lol. now those are good reasons. I hope to goodness no child asks what the big pink thing is hanging down from Winston's belly. his likes to make frequent apearances.
I remember being in the zoo when some enormous male animal made a show of his enormous part, might have been a hippo. Of course I told my kids the real scoop. It's all part of nature.
haha! When I was a kid we were at the zoo and two of those enormous tortoises were going at it and making all kinds of crazy noises. My mom told us the real deal on that one too. It was a very informative trip. lol
I think I've told this story on here before, but some former neighbors had two small children and were going to get a dog. One day the Dad was talking about what dog to get when the little girl pointed to the little boy dog and said "I don't want on of those things on my dog"! I thought I would die laughing when I heard that one!
Well...to add a little humor (and truth), my MALE chihuahua (neutered) squats to pee and NEVER lifts his leg. My female doodle (spayed) lifts her leg frequently when peeing. Really.
