Not eating much

Last week I was away and Bella was at home with my husband and so that put Bella off her routine.  She is now being really picky about eating, what should I do to get her to start eating again?

Monty has never eaten much of his kibble, although he likes it.  I think that he is always waiting on treats (which we give waaaaaaaaaay too many) So I've been cooking up chicken breasts and giving him a little bit on top of his kibble at night. Of course he thinks this is great, and after eating the chicken he eats his regualar food.  The problem however is that he is gaining weight......Hmmmm.

Bella only likes certain treats, like I said she is picky.  Do you think trying a different dog food would help?

She will eat when she is hungry   :)   Believe me, they won't let themselves starve to death.  She will be fine in no time

Thanks Joanne...just a worried Doodle Mom...she has lost a little weight so I wanted to make sure I was doing everything for her.  :)

what are you feeding?  R&B didn't like the Orijen formula with chicken, the would eat it but I could tell they didn't care for it.  Once I switched back to the fish formula they seem to like that a lot better OR...you can add little bits of cottage cheese, yogurt, pumpkin

Thanks for the information, I used to give her yogurt and she liked it for a while.  Maybe I will try the pumpkin or cottage cheese.

I went through a few weeks of this with Riley and was getting rather anxious so there I was adding yogurt or green beans or pumpkin to his kibble which he gobbled down.  But one day I didn't have any additions to add so I just left the kibble and it did take a couple of days but he's eating it fine now without any additions.  I would do nothing.

Probably just letting it be, she will get the hint that there are no goodies being put in and when she's hungry she will eat.

Did her and daddy have take out when you were gone??? LOL

I think Dad ate bologna most of the week and we have not fed Bella any table scraps!  :)  Our old dog Rosie used to sit and beg at the table so we decided we would not do it with Bella!

i agree that when she's hungry, she'll start eating (if it's the same thing she had before you left).  I posted a similar question here when we took Bentley with us out of town for the first time.  When we got home, he would not eat his food, so I immediately came to DK to ask why!  lol!   Everyone said he was just off his routine.  So, if he didn't eat within twenty minutes, I picked up his bowl and he didn't get to eat until the next meal time.  After a day and half of not eating, he got right back on his schedule of gobbling his food up.  No problems since then!  Good luck!
