One word for you - Winter. Blah!
I'm tired of the winter boots and cold toes and soggy mittens, 30 layers of clothing, taking 20 minutes to get me and the doodles geared up for a simple walk, and cleaning up after wet doodles and standing in the dog park throwing a ball when it's -20 and going out for a potty break at 11pm when it's -25 and I was already in my pajamas, and scraping ice off my car and traipsing through big dirty slushy puddles and picking up poop in the snow and all of it. One day it's -25 and everything turns to ice and the next it's -4 and everything turns to slush. I just had to remove my gloves and use them to clean off the salt that was burning Winston's feet and making him refuse to walk. I actually put my gloves on his feet like boots so that we can make it the rest of the way home. I thought I was going to get frost bite.
I've had it! It's time to cash in those vacation days and head south!
During the winter months I get SAD. No, not the emotion, the disorder. Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's real, I promise you. And thanks to the cold weather and lack of sunlight, I am one unhappy chick right now. All the vitamin D in the world isn't going to snap me outta this winter funk.
I don't have much money, but unless someone can tell me of a really good, but really cheap, doggie friendly vacation spot down south where I can drive my doodles to, then I might just have to splurge on a week in Cuba. All I know is that I need to get out of this cold dark icy, then slushy, then icy again, dreary city and all the stupid frustrating rigamorale that goes with winter and soak up some sunshine!
BLAH! ok, rant over. seriously, any suggestions for doodle friendly vacation spots down south?
**** And another thing! How's a girl supposed to snag a guy when she looks like this?

I get a lot of attention because of the doodles, but it is mostly from other women. Guys don't seem to fawn over adorable fluffy dogs.
My DH says, NOT TRUE
My partner seconds that. I get hit on by lots of men asking about Riley and he gets the women! LOL
Sherri, pick me up on your way to Jane's and Sandy's house. I'm right on your way
I just google mapped it. It's a 32 hour drive! I think I'll stick closer to the east coast, but thank you for the offer. If I ever find myself in Texas I'll come find you!
Maybe this might make you smile. Indoor Agility Course for dogs stuck in the house because their owners are freaking freezing.
I was going to photograph, 'my not as nice as your Sorel boots", but I my dog needed attention too. He jumped into the shoot and I put my focus to him. So here are the boots on the right
This is Spud's couch. He is playing indoors today
Running down the hall and LEAPING over the back of the couch
that looks like fun. I just bought a book called "Brain Games for Dogs" to try and do some fun stuff with them indoors. I'm trying to come up with stuff that doesn't involve a lot of bouncing around to avoid disturbing my cranky neighbour.
I've been teaching Sophie "Roll Over" but she is not quite getting it yet. and Winston is hopeless, he just looks up at me like "Listen Lady, this isn't the circus, just hand me that treat already".
I belonged to a online site that had all sorts of fun things to teach your dog--crawl, shut doors, etc. Great site. I'll look it up and pass it on to you.
Roll over can be really difficult and frustrating for some dogs. Try crawl today
Ok, I did crawl tonight and they both got it pretty quick. I have to work up to longer distances now. I also worked on "go to bed". The doodles had a blast. I love seeing how such simple things give them so much pleasure :o)
It took awhile for Haley to get it for "Over" but now that he has it if there is a high value treat involved he rolls over no matter what the comand is. I have been working on this but he gets so excited and sometimes evern break dances before he rolls over!
Funny guy!
I'm loving the boots! I can empathize re the SAD as I suffer from it too. I do hope you manage that trip as it really sounds like you could do with it right now.
