Brinkley's butt smells metallic.  Every once and awhile he'll lick his butt and it'll get kind of wet (obviously not just from licking... something else has to be leaking out).  Could this be his anal glands... and did he express them by licking them hard? How often do I need to get these expressed? He was groomed a little over a month ago and they did it then.

Anal glands smell like fish!!!  It is disgusting!  One of LDs likes to sit by the front door and let them leak onto the floor!!  Then he licks it all up - gross!!  He also releases when he is nervous (car travel), it makes the whole car stink!!

Yuck!  He licks it up!  I guess in some ways Brinkley was doing the same thing!  He kept licking in rear end... then he tried to give me a kiss!  He was denied!

I think the verdict is in on this one. Chloe had many troubles with her glands and had to be expressed at the vet multiple times a month. I would also have it checked for parasites? Good luck!

It was anal glands.   The brown spot on the sofa was him expressing his glands. Good think I have washable slip covers!  Yuck!  No parasites.  :)
