I was looking at that bed for JD, but it's $450 in his size, and if he didn't use it, I'd be really p!$$ed.
Jane is that the large or the extra large?
$450, that's an awful lot Orvis has another bed with memory foam, not Tempurpedic brand name but I don't think a dog would care. http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=1K0L
Also maybe you could just buy memory foam and put it inside another cover, either of a bed you have or one you buy. Memory foam does tend to make things a bit hotter when it's warm weather too. But I love my tempurpedic. Also I just wrote to Orvis earlier today and if you got to a store and they don't have an item you can order with free shipping.
I'm not buying anything so fast, lol. I'd like to buy from LL Bean, because I have an account with them and the shipping is always free.
My first priority is that the cover be washable and not made of anything plushy or fleecy; it has to be denim, cotton duck, canvas, something like that.
I'm sure regular foam without the Tempurpedic brand name would be fine.
I REALLY like those!! Hunter does have a bed very similar to those without the bolsters and not orthopedic. I got it at Petsmart when she was a puppy and she does sleep on it everyday. Sometimes at night she will sleep on the couch or the living room floor but she does like her bed so I am not so much worried about her not using it. I worry about her hips to, not that I have a concrete reason to since she has zero symptoms of a hip problem but I want to keep it that way. She does like to put her head on a pillow so I am really liking the bolsters......
Do you like the firmness? Do you think it really will be a benefit for their hips? I am very much of a shopper that likes to "touch" things first and not just order online and we don't have an Orvis store near us at all...
