Tara started vomiting large amounts of blood this morning. We rushed her to the vet and he believes that she ruptured a blood vessel when she vomited (with no blood) earlier in the day.

He said he has seen this before. Right now we are in the monitoring/watch mode and she is home. He did not give her any medication for it as she had stopped vomiting by the time we got her to him.  We don't know if the bleeding has stopped but it seems to have slowed enough to not cause her to vomited it out as she did earlier. Unless it is going the other way now and is going to come out the other end.

We need to keep her very still the next few days to a week (wish us luck with that!!). She really doesn't seem to feel bad and the bleeding seems to be the only symptom. But apparently it could rupture again with over-exertion or eating rough food.

Right now she is sleeping on the couch and I am spending most of my time watching her-making sure she is still breathing!!! My imagination is running wild!!

Tara and DH and I could really use any kind thoughts you can send toward us or heaven!! Thanks!

Rest well, your friend Daisy.

TARA UPDATE #2 Tara had a really good night last night. We keep her in her crate to avoid any chance that she might jump on the bed or move about too much. She sleep straight through until morning.

It has been close to 24 hours since the bleeding incident yesterday and she is behaving like her "normal" self this morning. We have to remind ourselves to keep her quiet and calm. Two words which are not synonymous with the word "doodle" !! At least not this girl! Although she is not happy that we have picked up all her toys and bullysticks and blocked her access to the window seat (which required jumping on her part). She didn't have her morning walk either so life is probably looking pretty bad to her right now! I'm even concerned about picking her up for fear of starting something bleeding again!

Shelly, you asked about an x-ray and the doctor decided not to take one yesterday because she was not acting ill or in any distress and he could not feel anything hard or that felt like a blockage. The vomiting had stopped by the time we got there. You're right though that something small but highly irritating could have been in there. He advised us to contact him if any changes occurred and his clinic is only about 5 minutes away (and we can make it even FASTER if motivated!!!). Plus he just lives a couple houses away!! So I know how to get ahold of him just about any time!

Poop Update: ( I know you are wanting to hear this!! LOL!) This morning her poop had some blackness in it right at the beginning but by the end they were just brown. I think the blackness was probably from the episode yesterday but it appears there is no blood coming through now.

So at the moment things look really good-now to keep them that way!! In order to keep her calm I have decided to sacrifice my work day today (hee hee!) and reluctantly (not!) spend the day on the couch snuggled up with Tara eating ice cream and watching old movies...it will be tough...

Thank you all again for your prayers and pawsitive thoughts for us! It meant so much! DK to all of you!
Hey girlfriend, I am sooooo glad to hear you didn't get sick again. You gave your mama quite a scare! It's good she's staying home with you today, my mom missed 3 days of work last week because of us doods. Hopefully you get to watch some old dog movies, like Shaggy DA, Homeward Bound and a good love story for us like Lady & the Tramp! We only watch TV when there's a good dog show on! xoxo - Bandit
Hey, Bandit Baby, dog movies is a GREAT idea-Woof!!! Lady and the Tramp is my FAVORITE cause it reminds me of you!! Tara and the Black Bandit....that would make a great movie!! I'm really lucky cause mommy actually works from home! But she's NOT workin' today! She is gonna be snugglin'!!!
Wow you are lucky! Our mom has to GO to work. All this week we are in the basement cuz I am not well enought to go to care and play with my friends. But it's not so bad, we always get a yummy treat when she leaves. Today I got a nice big marrow bone. I just jump right up on the couch and settle in for a long day with my bone and PBS programming:) I think mommy thinks I'll learn my ABC's one of these days if we watch enough Sesame Street. Plus I like to pick on my big sister when mommy's not around:) shhhh don't tell her!
