 I know we get bombarded with dogs that need help and this time it's my turn. Megan is my friend's daughter and a recent graduate from Vet school. The surgery has to be done at a different clinic than the one where she works but Megan will be caring for Mimi after her surgery. They are getting close to reaching the goal of the fundraiser but just need a little extra help. All we are asking for are small donations to help get her to her goal.

Mimi is in Moncton and doing well! We hope to have her back in Nova Scotia by Monday if all goes well! We are so close to being able to fund her surgery! Thank you everyone! Please spread the word, every penny helps. 

My name is Dr. Megan Murphy. I am a small animal veterinarian. I am very passionate about my job, love helping animals and being a voice for those who cannot speak.
The hardest thing about my job, and many vets would agree, are the cases we cannot help due to the cost of medical or surgical care.  
This is one of those cases and she needs our help! 

Mimi is  2 years old and has a herniated disc in her spine. She is paralyzed from the waist down and cannot walk. She needs a special surgery at the Atlantic Veterinary College. The cost of this surgery is 3500$ . Without this surgery, Mimi likely will not make it.  Her prognosis for recovery if she has surgery is very good at 90%.  

Her family are going through a very sad time and have recently lost two loved ones. They are unable to give her the care she needs at this time.  
I have taken over her care now but cannot financially fund her spinal surgery alone.  The clinic where I practice and I are only able to fund some of her expenses. She is a sweetie and we all want to help her very much. 

I am hoping through the generosity of friends, family and people who love animals, that we may be able to raise enough money to allow  Mimi to have her surgery and give her a chance. 

This case has really touched my heart and reminded me that bad things happen to good people all the time and sometimes they need our support.  Thank you for reading Mimi's story.  Any support is greatly appreciated but not expected, any little bit might help turn this sad case into a happy ending.

Update from Meg. Mimi is doing wonderful! She is able to stand a little, is trying to move her legs and able to wag her tail a bit now too! Her recovery is expected to take up to a month. I am hoping to be picking her up this weekend and continuing her rehab at home.

Let me check on it. My donation just went through but it took a couple of attempts. Thank you for trying, did the link take you to the correct page? There were three different buttons on the page that you could click to donate, I used the large one at the top right of the page. I think the other button didn't work for me, I could get my address in but the continue button didn't take me anywhere.

I used the large one and got all the way through to entering my CC info and submitting it. But then I got the error message every time.

JD also has a herniated disc in his spine. Fortunately, although there is nerve compression, he is not paralyzed. 

One of his best friend canine friends, a chocolate Lab, was paralyzed from a herniated lumbar disc and did have the surgery, at the age of 5. Despite being several years older than Mimi, and many, many pounds heavier, the surgery (which cost $5000) was a complete success and Kona can do everything she could before with no lasting effects. I wish the same for Mimi.

It's only a "little" help, but I hope it adds up and we see Mimi running soon.
