Looking for other doodle owners in the Baltimore area that might be interested in setting up a playdate to help me socialize my puppy? He is currently 10, almost 11 weks old and I know the window of opportunity is a small one. Since he is still in the process of getting all of those puppy shots I am leary of taking him to dogs parks, the pet store etc...but we have had a dog come over to play that is 7 years old and have met many people and dogs on our walks not to mention family visitors and friends. Some of the dogs we've met have been friendly some not. I just think it would be great to to able to have a regular play date with another doodle that lives close by!

First off, welcome to doodlekisses Lisa from another Maryland member. Can't help with any Baltimore area folks, but I know of a great group in Annapolis that has doodle romps every month. You should check them out when Tuckers completed all his shots. Check out their website (www.anapolisareadoodles.com). I'd still be really careful where and who you have him around until he has all of his shots.

Thanks Joe! Tucker has only been allowed to "sniff" the other friendly dogs on leashes walking with their owners around our block. The dog he had a few play dates with belongs to our neighbor and we know him well. I find it's rather challenging getting them socialized! Not the people part but the other animals...LOL

And thanks for that link; I will check out the Annapolis group too.

In Baltimore not far from us there is a dog park with access to a river, a portion of which is fenced in for the dogs to swim! Catch is.. and it's a good one.. your dog MUST be registered with the city and UP-TO-DATE on all vaccinations in order to gain access to this dog park and the trails are monitored. Makes it so much safer for all the dogs and the owners too. You have to sign up for a pass every year and so your dog has to have their vaccinations every year. I think it's great but we can't go until Tucker is vaccinated for rabies and gotten through all of those puppy boosters. It's something we are looking forward to though!

Joe I agree wholeheartedly about care required with young puppies. 4 weeks to go until I can introduce her to the community at large lol.

It may be obvious to everyone, but the link needs another "n" in Annapolis. Clicking on the link does not work

Hi Lisa and a shout out to Joe as well :)! I live in Anne Arundel County and have found a number of doodle owners in the area. I too have a puppy who is just 12 weeks now, and can relate to your issues. I love the website Joe suggested. I am also on Facebook and a few of the closed doodle group pages found there. I also started a local one if you are interested. The page is Delmarva doodles. Other pages you may want to join are doodle family and I LOVE MY LABRADOODLE. :)

We are also in Anne Arundel (Edgewater) and have a 12 week labradoodle as well. He goes for the last puppy shot tomorrow and soon we will be able to drag him all over with our Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.

Last Parvo shot already? Wow. We were told last shot administered at 16 weeks and fully protected one week post that shot. Just out of curiosity did you get your puppy through a breeder in the area?

I was also told 16 weeks? I will check again when we go back on the 2nd of August...

Yes last parvo, rabies is some time after 16 weeks. Umm,he willl 14 weeks old, not 12. Time flies.

Thanks Melissa! I will check them out :)
