page decorating...which way should I go george, which way should I go.?

All righty now, I need a wee bit of help.  I'm not entirely a newbie when doing this, but for some reason I just can't crack this nut.  The backgrounds that we have to choose from don't really do much for me, so I want to use one from an outside source.  I've tried a couple and put them in the advanced area where it indicates to copy and paste.  None take.  Some give me options, My space, FB, twitter....which one should I use?  and....is there anything else I need to do?
