Cooper has occasional bouts of vomiting bile, almost always on an empty stomach. Took him to the vet about a week and a half ago, and she thought pancreatitis, but that was based on my telling her that he had eaten a very small piece of braut a couple days before. He had a normal temperature and no abdominal pain. I’ve read a lot of the stuff about pancreatitis here and elsewhere, but I’m still at a loss. He is not the best eater in the world, so sometimes it’s difficult to keep his stomach from being empty. I do try to get him to eat a snack before bedtime. His food is Fromm's Adult with a variety of Primal freeze-dried toppings.  I’m probably not posting this correctly as this is my first post.

There is no way to know if a dog has pancreatitis without doing some lab work and other testing. However, the symptoms incude a lot more than just vomiting bile, and pain is a big part of it. We have extensive info in the Health Group about pancreatitis. Based on what you've said here, I'd be pretty sure he doesn't have it.

Vomiting bile on an empty stomach is very common. Feeding regular meals, and feeding twice a day + giving a small snack at bedtime is the best way to prevent it.
We have a lot of info in The Food group about picky eaters and how to get them to eat. :)

Thanks, Karen.  I read most of the stuff I could find in the health group. I will go check out the food group for help in getting him to eat.  For me at least, the search function is not working so that is making it more difficult to find information already posted.

You can search in the groups. Go to the bottom of the list of discussions where it says "View All" and it will take you to a another page with a list of discussions and  a search box at the top.

This is my favorite discussion on picky eaters.

I'll give you a suggestion: try switching him to Fromm's Four Star line. That gives you a dozen different formulas that you can rotate, from one bag to the next, without transitioning. That helps keep them interested. Also, while it may be slightly less expensive in the long run to buy large bags, it's really not a good idea to have more than 2-4 weeks' worth of food open, even if it's in an air tight container. Most dogs are more enthusiastic about eating when the food is really fresh.

Thanks, Karen.  Will go get some as soon as possible.  Don’t know if my store is open tomorrow. We have this great store in Wichita that has all the good stuff. Locally owned. So lucky.
