Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I found a dime-sized patch of thick white,  crusty/flakey skin on the hock of my 7 month old golden doodle's back leg. The fur is missing from that area. When I ran over it with a comb, it bled a little. She used to have something similar on her tail and her neck, but they were more or less a patch of flakey skin and not thick and crusty like this is. She isn't particularly itchy overall, and it doesn't seem to be bothering her. She is very much a "jumper" and plays on concrete when she is at doggy daycare. It seems too high up to be a callus. I feed her Wellness Core Puppy, and add about 2-3ml of salmon oil to her food everyday. Any ideas what it is? Sorry I wasn't able to get a shot that wasn't blurry....

I don't know what it is, but one thing I can assure you is that it has absolutely nothing to do with her food. :)

I would have the vet to take a look at it.

Yup, I think I'll have her take a look at it. The only reason why I mentioned her food is that I knew a skin condition from eating crap wasn't the culprit. :-)  I'll be hitting you up for advice on adult food in a couple of months- I'm thinking maybe Wellness Core Ocean so i don't have to add the extra Omega 3's....

Sounds like a good plan.
