Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I know that our doods are very sensitive on how we feel.  I have posted a couple of incidents here before when Jamie peed inside the house and even on her bed.  (Thankfully, neither one of those incidents were bladder infections.)  But, a couple of days ago, she did it again!  We took her to my brother's who has graciously offered to dog sit for us.  It's the first time that we would leave her for this length of time.  Jamie loves being there and knows to ask to go outside to potty but this time she peed on their white carpeted floor. = 0   When I looked back at the 2 previous incidents, I remember feeling really anxious about something both times.  I wonder if she picks up on the anxiety and "manifests" by not holding her bladder?

Any thoughts?  Am I humanizing the dood too much?  She has the strongest connection with me compared to the rest of the family so I think she is able to pick up on my emotions.

Bumping in case this discussion got lost in the mix...
Helping the bump--I don't have totally applicable advice.

Porter does the submissive urination thing occasionally--more so when he was a younger puppy. He still occasionally sprinkles when he is around big men with deep voices who approach him with their attention solely on him.
I tell these men to ignore him or meet him outside (they don't always get it).

What you are talking about seems more like doing a whole pee pee on the floor? Not sprinkles while excited/nervous? While I think they pick up on our nervousness, I think they have there own personalities to contend with as well. It is possible that she did not empty out when your brother took her out because she was nervous. They often need a longer walk than sitters realize to get past the nerves/unfamiliarity.

When we go to a new house, and I have counted, Porter has had sleepovers at seven different houses, I always walk him around the house (he follows me, no leash) and tell him what he can and can't do. I also take him outside and tell him what his perimeter is, and try to encourage him to pee/poop in places the relatives won't get annoyed by.

I only recently left him alone at my stepmother's house for three hours, the DAY we arrived for a visit. It made me nervous because when we did it last year, he was in a crate. Her house is all white carpeted too. I walked him before I left and I left him with a new bone. I also opened the door and had him greet us outside when we got home...that is also a sprinkle inducer for him. OMG OMG OMG, I was so scared and now they are HOME!!! tinkle

Porter did once pee a whole pee inside after housetraining. It was when I forced him to stay outside in the dark (6-7pm) while some people whose kid was terrified of dogs were over. (I've never had them back again ;-0) He was way too nervous to actually pee while out there, though I did not realize this. So he peed on the hall floor in the middle of the night. Some might say he was peeing because he was pissed off (no pun intended :P) at being locked out of the dinner party. But I know him better now. He won't pee in the dark unless I go out with him. He is goofy that way--scared of the boogey man or the boogey bunny.

He is not picking up on my fears though. I am not scared of the yard at night at all.

Ramble ramble...good luck getting answers, and don't rule out a return of the UTI. They can come back.
Thanks for the bump, ladies.

I've been talking to my brother every day saince we left her with them and he says (thankfully) that Jamie is doing her business outside like she's supposed to. You are right, it may have been her anxiety, not mine that was manifest. Although we've had several weekend visits at my brother's, I wonder if she knew that this time would be different.

In the meantime, we're missing her SOOO much already.
I am glad she is doing well now. Hugs--you'll see her soon!
