If it were Tara I would begin by calling the Emergency Vet and telling them what happened on the phone. They can advise you. Many people poison moles and that is my concern. Save the bits that she vomited up just in case the vet might need it. I hope it's nothing but I wouldn't take any chances. Have you checked your yard to see if you can find a carcass? It could be that she didn't eat one at all but because you don't know for sure you should assume that she did. Please let us know how she is doing and I hope she is just fine!
I agree, a Vet visit is certainly warranted due to the poisoning of moles. She probably didn't eat it but you never know.
I sure hope that Penny is okay....any update?
Yuck. I hope Penny is ok. Did you call the vet?
Are moles poisonous if a dog does eat one? I for some reason I assumed they weren't but really hadn't thought about it. Hunter has killed her fare share of moles but I have always found them. She tends to toss them around and paw at them to try to get them to play with her.
I really hope Penny is ok! Let us know what the vet says....
Denise I don't think moles are poisonous but they can contain poison that they have eaten. Many people use poison to rid their yards of the moles and they can end up on the surface with poison in them. It's good that Hunter doesn't eat them.
Maybe you should consider a 2nd dog if poor Hunter is trying to get moles to play with her! LOL!
LOL Ricki I told me DH the same thing!! Last week she found a large grasshopper and looked really sad after she batted it with her foot, put her foot on top of it and then when she lifted her foot up and it was smashed she was trying to nudge it with her nose to get it to play some more. Her loneliness has created many victims.
Grasshoppers too!! LOL!! I guess sometimes love really does hurt!
Perhaps she needs to join the 11-step program - not for counter surfing but for: inappropriate friendships."
Birds build nests under our deck and Hunter can get under the deck - I cannot even begin to count the number of baby and adolescent birds that Hunter tossed around the yard - she lost interest when they wouldn't play!! I think you are right she needs a support group for inappropriate friendships!! LOL
Barbara, is there any update on Penny? I hope she is doing okay today!
