This picture was in my local paper today. Caption: People Do The Darndest Things For Their Pets
Michael Antoniotti strapped his Jack Russell terrier's cage to a wagon and took him for a walk following leg surgery. Dodger was confined to a cage for six weeks after having his cruciate ligament repaired. Antoniotti said he did it because he didn't want the dog to get bored. A neighbor snapped the photo proving that we actually do crazy things for our pets. (Photo courtesy of Ed Kowalewski of Norton)
I think many of us here on DK would do this and even more.
Many of you know, I get my dogs their very own Couch, which has recently shown up around here again. My husband makes all the treats in the house. etc etc Come on, be honest. We promise not to make fun of you ( wink wink)
What have you done that would get you a caption: People Do The Darndest Things For Their Pets

My house is basically transformed. I have 2 very large crates taking up most of my dining room, one is pink as you know J. Lots of dog food in that room as well. I have 2 big dog beds in the bedroom and another crate. Dog water bowls upstairs and down. Covers on couches and chairs downstairs. A dog paraphenalia cupboard in the dining room too, bought for that purpose. A big clothes hamper basket for toys. Another basket for grooming stuff. And assorted junk: ) Maybe these are just the usual things though and not the darndest : )
Could be, but I do not think others think so.
I sometimes look around the house and yard and get a flash back. It looks like I have human babies hanging out in the living room. Toys and stuff strewn about. A few weeks ago I wanted to add a Little Tykes play set to the backyard.
Normal-well to DK people we are, but not to others.
Ok, Myla and Chloe have a "room" when they had their crates in our "office" and we somehow decorated it with the dog theme. My mom made valances with paw prints on them for both windows. They have a bunch of pictures of them and other dog pictures. I decide there was room for a couch for ME to read in private. They made it their couch and we had to buy a slipcover last weekend since they won't give it up. You may remember Chloe made this couch theirs by chimoing a big hole in the cushion shortly after we bought it. We were able to fix it but now their couch is covered and used with supervision only!
Spunky my cat has his room with all cat decorations and tons of toys. We call it his suite because he stays on the second floor (away from Chloe)
They have lots of toys everywhere and even their own blankies for movie nights to snuggle on the couch.
Awesome! Valences and pictures included. Yep, you fit the "Darndest Things Catagory", big time.
Yes, now if my family would stop thinking I'm crazy that would be an honor!!
Wow, so a separate room for the doods. What a great idea! We've got two guest rooms right now (most of the year unoccupied) and we are thinking about getting a second doodle. Maybe each of them could have their own room and a bed so that they won't hog our bed? Two standard sized doodles in our bed would be WAY too much. Thank you for giving me the idea, Jennifer. I will present it to my DH tonight, LOL!
I didn't present it. It just kind of happened!! They have a grooming table in there too! They got new flooring a few months ago. They are all set so...why are they in our bed?? Good luck!!
Wow! You're an awesome doodle mommy!!! (And kitty mommy too!)
Who me??? Why today I gave Jack a shower and I used my favorite shampoo that was given to me as a gift that cost $40.00 a small bottle. It is for dryness, with the winter here, I wanted Jack not to suffer with dryness... I used the last of it on him and used the cheapy shampoo for me..His hair and soft and shiny, mine is frizzy.
I hire actual dog sitters to come and sit with Jack at my house when I am going to be gone all day. Jack has eight bins of toys and his own toy box. I will never leave him overnight unless I know for a fact he has someone he loves that agrees to let him snuggle and sleep with him at night.
Jack goes to play groups, daycare, and has more sets of clothes then the average three year old child that I do not put on him because he does not like it.
IN fact when Jack was attacked by another dog and could not put weight on his hip, I purchased him a dog stroller and I strolled him around the neighborhood....
Sometimes I am too tired to cook dinner for me but Jack will never go without a good meal.. ISn't that normal?? LOL
Perfectly normal! You're a wonderful doodle mom!
It's kind of hard to come up with a "darnest thing" since all we do for our doodles is perfectly normal by the DK book.
Very true! Good point!
