I am looking to get pet insurance for my 9 and 6 year dogs.  Any recommendations will be appreciated.  Also, tips on what to look for when shopping Pet Insurance.  Thank you.

There are a lot of past discussions on pet insurance so be sure to do a search but the main ones are PetPlan and VPI.  Having dogs that are 6 and 9 though you are going to run into a LOT of issues with pre-existing conditions.

We had a very in-depth discussion not too long ago about Pet Plan and there was a link that someone added with an article that compared several of the policies and I can't seem to find it.  There are so many Pet Insurance discussions that it would take me forever to go through them all to find it.  Anyone remember it and know where to find it.  I didn't particularly agree with their end choice, but I thought it was a good article and helped to think about different things with various plans and some of the questions you need to think about.  Off the top of my memory I would say the largest percentage of people here have PetPlan, Embrace, VPI, Trupanion and there is a new one that I can't remember the name of, something like Healthy Paws or something.

Uni -- The thing about Pet Insurance that makes it hard for anyone to say what is the best one for you is they are all different in what they provide and what they charge and what you pay.  There are so many options to choose from based on your particular needs.  You might want a really high deductible so your monthly rates are lower or you might prefer to pay more monthly and have lower deductibles etc.  With dogs that are 9 and 6 years old, it will be interesting to see what they quote you.  Unless these dogs have been completely healthy and have nothing written up in their Vet records except annual exams.   If that is the case, I want to know who your breeder was because that might be a first.

this is part 4...if you want to read the entire series, go to seattletimes.com & search 'pet insurance'

Pet insurance is great for some and not for others. Some insurances do not accept some older pets, especially with pre-existing medical conditions. I would recommend you check out Pet Assure. They offer great discount plans for unlimited # of pets, at any age, with any medical condition. You simply present your member card at the time of service & get the discount then & there. No worries about filling out claim forms, etc.  Hope this helps!
