Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have been charting my pet insurance premiums since I started and wanted to share it with all of you. My polices for both dogs are with Pet Plan. I know the premiums have gone up, but when I think of what one catastrophic illness could cost me, the peace of mind is worth it for me. I thought this is good for others to know, so you can plan for insurance for your dog/dogs.

We also have Pet Plan and thank goodness we have not had to use it for any major accident/illness (knock on wood) and would not be without it! In my book, it is a must. We have health insurance, why shouldn't Libby?
Yep....I hope we never have to use it!
Thanks Laurie for taking the time to share this with us.
You are welcome :)
I'm glad you shared this and made me think about it! Our policies for all three dogs are with Embrace and include a wellness add-on, but I've never looked - really looked - at the policy and what I have. Ozzie had a mild case of Lyme disease last summer that has left him with very early cataracts (I was the only one who noticed). He isn't impacted yet, but knowing cataracts they will gradually worsen. And Mater has those golden retriever lumps that we need to constantly watch. So I think I'll read my policy and look at what I'm paying and give this a little more attention - especially now that I'll finally have some time!
lol Kathy ... I have to smile every time I hear you say "since I'll now have time" as since Mike and I retired we are constantly saying how in the world did we ever have time to work, we are so busy. However, the difference is we are mostly doing things we want to do.
I know...I don't know how I ever worked. I get so much less done now and it seems like I have so much more to do.
Glad this helped.
Wow....my premiums with Pet Plan are so much higher, probably because of the coverage....and also I think premiums vary by state. I have a max for vet fees per year of $22,000 and a $200 Ded....20% co-pay for specialized treatment.
GUINNESS:
2011 $318
2012 $476
2013 $595
2014 $743
MURPH:
2011 $286
2012 $379
2013 $474
2014 $552
Murph will be renewing in a few weeks, so I'll be interested to see what that premium is. As high as these annual premiums are, the policies have paid for themselves with the vet fees we've experienced. I need to call to be sure we're getting all the discounts we're entitled to.
Jane, if you look at your documents it will show you if you are getting 15% (the max). You get 5% for online order, microchip, or mentioning DK, you get 10% for multiple dogs.
This is the first time I am glad that I do not live in Connecticut, wow, quite the price difference.
Wow, Jane. I guess I am now glad I live where I live :) That is a big difference, but still worth every penny.
That is significantly cheaper than what I'm paying. I have $200 deductible with $100% pay. I think as it continues to go up I will eventually have to drop it down some. Thanks for sharing this. Now, since I happen to have them laying right here, I'll share some reimbursements I've gotten from Pet Plan for just Lucy.
Allergy Claims: These will be on going fees I'll incur for as long as she lives in order to keep her comfortable.

CCL Surgery I don't have the invoice in front of me but it was over $1900.
Then for Sophie we had over $2000 in Chemo/Cancer treatments.
So far Miss AnnaBelle is totally healthy and I will gladly pay those premiums each month if she remains that way.
